I am sterilizing in the microwave, and then sterilizing again in a covered pot of boiling water. Since I don't have a pressure cooker, I added the microwave sterilization step (as well as sterilizing the jars and vermiculite in the oven beforehand) to be extra clean.

I dont touch the stuff . . .

Yeah, I know a dude that's done that for years and he's never had a problem with it before. In fact, the only contaminated jars he's ever had were from contaminated syringes (or so he's told me). He goes microwave crazy sometimes, though. He likes to pre-sterilize almost EVERYTHING in the microwave (the stuff that can go in the microwave, of course).
