Anyone familar with polyfill lids or filter discs?

I read that popcorn colonizes very quickly so I decided to try it using Koh Samui strain. I have been incubating @82 degrees and seeing quick results but it has only been 6 days. These ones I am not using a filter disc, or polyfill lids. Just metal band tops with the lid part turned upside-down. I am going to next try and use some polyfill lids to see the difference in the colonization time. I was wondering about others experiences using popcorn as a substrate and the use of filter lids or polyfill lids.

If you're going all out for quick colonization, you should use rye. I haven't used it yet, but from what I read, that shit is crazy fast at colonizing.

I'm also curious as to how much gas exchange the things need when they are colonizing. I want to say that I heard somewhere that CO2 is good for the myc, is that way off?

I know it's bad for fruiting.

I have some 5-6 day old rye jars innoc. with eq.(A spore strain that is known for slow germination) and the jars are almost 1/2 way done. Rye is the shit, but I've also had 13 contam. jars so far... So rye is not as easy but it is fast.
