G2G Transfer with Compost? Method possible?

Would it be possible to sterlize compost in the oven with oven bags, then take the compost and put it into jars, then drop a piece of mycelium in? Not worrying about the possibility of contams (they have never been a problem.

If this is possible should I wet the compost before putting it into the oven?

How wet should the compost be when putting it into jars?

If you have a flow hood it could be done. Exposing any sterilized substrate to air even for a second is begging for contams. If I were you I would just sterilize the compost in the jars and then try to do a quick transfer. About the water content, I dunno, maybe someone else will answer.

Compost is pasteurized not sterilized. Read this:

If it were me i'd pasteurize the compost and then load it into a few larger containers and do a g2g and have a few big casings instead of an assload of jars that you'll have to empty out anyways. :thumbup:

You would probably be much better off pasteurizing the compost and going from there. You will have to use a bit more myc than you would use in a typical g2g ,but your chances of success would be much better. In order to ensure that you reach full colonization of the pasteurized substrate you should add at least a 1/10 ratio of myc vs. substrate.
