I think it was caused by limbs that somebody cut off, the tree did seem very powerful when I use to put my hand on it, Kind of sad, but not angry, at least not with me.

If trees could speak, they'd say very mean things, hahaha. Nice pic, that'd be amazing on mushies.

I wonder if that's the sort of thing that happens when a "human" reincarnates into a "lower" form as a result of his/her karma? It would make me a little sad knowing that I had "missed" something in this life that required me to take up tree form. Perhaps it was a person who lacked patience. Imagine how much patience a tree has. You have to also trust nature absolutely. Trust it to provide you with not only a suitable spot to grow, but to provide you with sun, rain, etc.

Its funny that I am VERY scientific some of the time, and VERY metaphysical the other half of the time. I guess my point is, don't take me too seriously, I like just putting "thoughts" out there whether or not they have any "real" evidence to back them up!

Why do you assume trees are a "lower" form of life? Is that not a subjective presumption based only in your perceptions as a human?

I am like this too. It is just the duality of man. There's nothing wrong with it.. it's actually very healthy to use both evenly; a sort of balance occurs through this process.

I only say "lower" in quotes for lack of a better term. I don't think that I am any better than a tree, but see that there are differences between us. In essence we are all the same, whether consciousness inhabits the form of a tree or a man is of no consequence. It has to be recognized, however, that each form possesses the potential for different experiences, lessons, and expressions.

Sometimes I envy the mighty tree. His roots, thrust deeply into the earth, while his branches stretch upward to receive the heavenly light. Our night and day are but a breath to a tree. Passing in the blink of a leaf-lidded eye.

That pic he shown was a pic of a tree with a serious fungal infection. Not a happy tree but a sick tree :frown:

Trees with big lumps like that are suffering from infection

that's not strictly true

trees with 'lumps' (they're called burls) are in the process of deftly healing themselves of infection. an infected tree without burls is unhealthy, but with burls is okay. basically the tree has cancer, but it has totally encapsulated and isolated the tumor and cut it off from nutrients and such, thus killing it. the tumor stays in the tree forever and is thereafter called a burl. Woodworkers prize burls for their nifty grain patterns.
