dumb liquid culture cloning question
    #3274279 -

If one was to take a piece of a stem and put it in some karo or honey water and let some mycelium develop, the fruits from substrate inoculated by that liquid culture would be clones of the original fruit the piece of stem was from. Correct?

And the clones are generally gonna look alike, be the same size, height, shape, etc. right?

*please excuse these retarded questions. I'm so rusty on all of my mycological knowledge. I haven't fucked with this shit in over a year.

roughly. it won't be completely uniform, but for the most part you will notice that all of the fruits exhibit the characteristics of their "parent", as far as size, weight, time to fruit, etc.
cloning will take you in bounds in yr mycological endevours.

i thought it was wierd to see you outside of OTD...

I've done agar and liquid cultures before. But due to copious amounts of intoxicants and time, my brain can no longer locate the memories and knowledge I once possessed about these things.

Works well too. Fill up the h202 cap with h202 and dip the chunk in there then throw the chunk and cap full of h202 in the liquid myc after about 5 seconds and you should reduce contam issues (of course taking the peice from the inside of the stem)

So am i correct that H202 doesn't hurt psilocybes? This seems kind of odd to me since it disinfects and all..

H202 (in a 3% solution like you buy at the store) won't kill molds/bacterias/fungi. It doesn't really disinfect so great..it's meant to be poured on wounds right after being exposed before anything bad has a chance to grow. It will kill spores, this is why you dip it, to kill any spores that may be on the outside of the peice. Don't leave it in for to long because it can harm it being straight 3%..once you dump the little itty bitty capful into the 100ml jar though it disperses and is fine. H202 is used alot in our hobby for that reason. If diluted further, like 10% h202 (the 3% kind) and 90% water) it is fine for myc. I use that solution for my humidifiers, spray bottles and 24 hour dunks for casings or cakes. Lets my live, kills spores dead.

Is this true? I noc'd up some honey mixed about 3-4% over about 500 mL and added a half cap of H2O2, but I used spore syringe. Am I doomed?
