I was actually never a hippie, a stoner maybe but I could never stand the smell of BO and I cut my pony tail off 30 years ago.

Nope. I have my hippy-ish qualities--long hair, anti-war stance, tolerance, drug use, "New Age" spirituality--but I also eat meat, shower, listen to death metal, support free market capitalism, oppose gun control, would never name my child "Moonbeam", and prefer black clothes rather than tie-dye.

I voted yes, even though I'm defintely not a hippy in the strictest sense. I find a lot I identify with in the hippy philosophy, and I also like a lot of the culutural stuff (incense/essential oils, blacklights, colorful designs, and of course, the drugs). The main difference is that I think that social change has to come through action, and sometimes the hippy way of doing that doesn't make much of a difference.
Granted, I do think a lot of hippies in the 60's & 70's were very active in protesting etc.. I do hate how a lot of people get so pissed at them, lol.
-------------------- The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.
