pmp heating solution???
    #3354190 - 11/12/04 11:52 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

hey

just after some opinions on a heating solution for the pmp i am thinking of trying. basically taking 2 fruiting chamber sized Rubbermaid's and making a tub in tub pmp. would this work or would the hydro ton mess up the heat distribution ?

any opinions appreciated

you could just put the heater in the bottom of the hydroton, don't need to make a TiT, just make sure theres enough water or pop goes the heater

ideal temps for fruiting is low to mid 70's.. most houses are not low to mid 70's

exactly most are not but i live in mo and its getting mighty chilled only in the low 50's so having a basement naturally stays chill..maybe not the low 70's but mid 70's

true i could but this way is heaps cleaner. it means i can change heat setings easily and dont have to keep adding water to the pmp.

Not to be rude but why the hell do you have hydroton if you're not gonna fill the tub w/water and use it?

I think they fruit well with high 60's. But my house is low/mid 60 at night and high 60 at daytime. Specially in the non-living areas the temp is lower.
So ill be heating my PMP as well.

I think a tub in tub Pmp would work.

if you dont have a "clear" top just put lights directly under th elid, its sure to heat it up atleast alittle bit, and if u put it on a timer even better, light source that u can controll

I live in New England and its definately snowing already, that means temps in the 20s and 30s. My house is usually low 60's and the room I keep my PmP in is usually above 70, nontheless I have 2x20watt flourescent bulbs built into the lid of my PmP, they moderate the temp very well. You should consider this when you contruct your unit.
Having a lightsource in the direct vincinity of your grow can be a problem in warmer climates, but if your concerned about temp this may be the answer for you.

Good luck,

Kido

ummm yeah are you familiar with the tub in tub and the poor mans pod?

the hydroton and water are in the poor mans pod with airstones so you get air circulation/humidity as per usual. the heater is in a tub under the poor mans pod so you don't have to fish around in the hydroton to  change temp settings or see if the heater is covered with water. basically taking a poor mans pod in its complete form(air hoses through the top lid)and dump a tub under it.
