how to heat my terrarium, quick!
    #972051 - 10/18/02 10:51 AM (21 years, 5 months ago)

I birthed a cake last night, not using a heater, i cant keep tthe temperature in the terrarium any higher than 65 where it has been all night. What sort of things do other people use for heat in this "situation" . DO heating blankets work, or overheat, I imagine it would be harder to tell the real temperature of the terrarium if a heating blanket was heating from underneath, only the glass would be warm? Space heaters too dangerous? SHIT

for the first while when i couldn't keep my incubabtor warm, and before i had the fish tank heater, i would just boil up a jar of water and put the lid back on with a hole in it and set it in the tank.....it works, but you have to change it 2 times a day. good luck

I used a heating pad, set on low, on a timer. Thats not the best method, but it was a team project so some one always had an eye on things.

Well for about 10 bucks, you could purchase a non-submersible 50 or 100 watt fishtank heater and put it in a glass jar full of water. The submersible ones are more versatile but they cost alot. Pet stores generally have very poor security ; i

Space heater is okay , if it has temp settings you can control , and a knock over safety shut off . Just keep room at desired temp with space heater .
Good Luck
