Ghetto Micron Magik?

Would using a couple coffee filters with the jar cover rings basically emulate a Micron Magik filter? It's not that I'm cheap, or trying to screw Micron Magik over, I just can't get things delievered to my house. I don't want to try it unless I know it will be effective in keeping out contams.

The coffee filters aren't laced together tight enough to block out contams.  Spores and bacteria are smaller than the pores in the filter.

They do suck, and if your trying to use them on a quart jar you see the effects in a few days.

shroomin.. Nah.. you can't even compare the two. Filter discs are the way to go if you can swing it. NuShroom sells them real cheap.

Not to screw NuShroom but I am using a suggestion from the 9er tek and have had only one contaminated jar out of 16 and these are Quart size. Whole millet & Thai KS...

The ones tested are "AmericanAirFilter tm".? They are a non-woven material like a very fine Scotchbrite "scrubbie."

Just cut into pieces to fit the jars and screw the band on over them.? One or two layers work well.? It is recommended that you cover the top loosely with Al foil during sterilization and incubation.
