Does pasteurizing straw cause it to significantly grow in size/mass?

I don't want it to overflow from the container..

I believe that pasteurizing straw will cause it to shrink in size actually.

I didnt pay much attention really but volume didn't change noticably. If you hydrate it like you're supposed to, it wont grow any bigger than it already is.

Straw will colonize extremely fast if you hydrate it right.
