Peyote seedling support
    #3329554 -

What is the best way to support small (less than 1 month old) peyote seedlings? I have several which seem to be falling over on their sides. They each have very small taproots and right now I have a couple pieces of perlite holding them erect. I am worried about disturbing them too much, but also worried about the moist perlite possibly causing them to start to rot. Should I be concerned about this or will they right themselves? All help is appreciated.

I retract my statement, as peyote isn't something I have first-hand experience with. Sometimes I have trouble remembering the theoretical knowledge is fine for making my own decisions, but I shouldn't be giving out advice with it. Peace and Much Love.

They will do that sometimes. I just prop them up or if they have fallen over and if the roots are out of the soil I'll just poke a little hole in the dirt and put them in. Perlite is fine for propping them up. It won't make them rot. Just watch the light. Even indirect light can burn them and kill them but if they don't get enough light they will stretch.

Thank you. I made some small identions in the soil and placed the leaning seedlings in them. As of now they are getting about 12 hours daily of indirect light from a few low-wattage compact fluoro's. As soon as I believe them to be stable I will be attempting to graft about half of them, and then starting some more from seed. Thanks for the help!
