Peyote Seedlings and a Flowering Peyote Too!

I bought a few peyote at the end of last year, they'd obviously flowered at some point recent to when i got them, and this spring they sprouted seed pods from which i got 40 seeds!
I planted 8 of them as an experiment (i.e. i couldn't afford money-wise or time-wise to do it that 'proffesionally'-i'm skint and have a final year uni project to write at the moment ) just using some cactus soil that i had in the house.
I roughly followed the method on this page-
http://www.xs4all.nl/~knehnav/cultivation.htm
-but a little more shoddily due to my poverty
I used a plastic, clear tupperware container (from a takeaway meal) and filled it half with cactus soil. I wet the soil so that it was wet but not soaking (no puddles) and layed 8 of the seeds (i think a few might have been damaged/crushed though) on the surface. I stuck the lid on tight and put the container on the kitchen work surface that has the gas boiler in an alcove below it (so when the heating or hot water is on they get bottom heating- genius idea by my girlfriend ) The container steamed up and it looked very humid inside. At the position it is in it gets sunlight but not direct or strong, only diffuse (as bright as most of the room except the window ledge).
Now, after almost 3 weeks i have 3 peyote seedlings!! Strange thing is- they are really tall and thin.
They are between 1 and 2 cm tall and about 0.5cm diameter. I thought this might be because they are not getting enough light, does anybody know what i should do? The instructions i'm going by say to wait 3 weeks (that'll be this Sunday) before making pin prick holes in the lid, making more over time to gradually reduce the humidity over a 5 week period and then removing the lid once the humidity is equalised with the outside.
Thing is, some of the water has dripped from the lid onto one peyote, is there any danger of this causing it to rot? Also, the seed casing is stuck on one of the other seedlings, i saw somewhere that this should be removed to avoid rotting- if i do this though i will shock them by altering the humidity won't i? Is there anything urgent i need to do or can i just wait until the lid is off?
Thankyou.
