There's been alot of threads over the years, many classics, such as the whole Wasted Spores/Angel saga. I've seen on other websites they've archived all the best threads on one forum, and it would be pretty cool if we could do it here, I'd love to read through some old classic post. To prevent it becoming full of crap, we could prevent new posts being put there.

That has got to be the best idea I've ever seen posted here. I just hope all the old data isn't lost, somehow.

How would you judge what is classic or not?

Would it help to make the search engine consider # of views? Like say search all Mush Cult posts for any with > 2000 views.

That is a really neat idea. I like it a lot. I'm sure we can agree on a way to decide how to classify potential 'Classic' threads.

The ones that Yoschie pulled up recently will all make good classics.

The UBB system had an archving function, that was exactly what you are talking about. While it would be neato for Off Topic, it's even more useful for cultivation forums...

We don't have archives anymore?

I hear PK has the really old stuff.

Some threads seem to come from way back in '98. Only one thread can be found with Angel. I wonder if this is a problem with the Search function or if the material was lost.

Good to see you still check in Captain.

When we get setup on the new server I am going to look into retrieving the old messages.

Well, I think the threads that would qualify as "classic" would have features suchs:
1: Not turning into a "u suck" slanging match,
2:Being interesting/informative/funny, or a combination of the three,
3:Being of some sort of historical note (Wasted Spores adventure, for instance).
I'm glad to see so many of you support this idea.

One way to at least see the popular threads for now is to sort the post by # of views. Just click on the column header..

All posts that haven't been viewed since the change over have a view count of '0'.... So the old popular threads by the new BB are not even viewed...

Ideas for criteria:

-as mentioned by egghead, a "good" views:reply ratio, probably with a bare minimum of each
- age of post
- content

Someone should make a thread, and everyone could post the links of there personal favorites. That way a large number of classics will be in the same place, and it wouldn't cause thor and 3d a lot of work to find them....

Once we are on the new server I will set up a forum that people can't post in and then you(moderators) can start moving threads there(probably), at least you can post links and Thor or I will move it there.

It would be nice if the moderators edit the first message in the Thread to give a overview of why the thread was selected.
Oh, and make me the moderator of the forum *smiles sweetly*

Any classic thread forum would have to include the posts of 21Pounds. That was some of the most classic shit I've ever seen. He was some kind of sick, evil genius. Even if he was really annoying after a while. In fact, mabey there should be a 21 pounds forum. everything would be in CAPITAL LETTERS!!! Just a thought.
