one question:
considering the new laws (or lack thereof) that give fbi, etc... the power to look on message boards for people involved in 'terrorist activities' (i.e. drug growing and use) wouldn't this be bad?

then wouldn't a lot of stuff on this board be bad? all the elements of the grow logs seem to exist already, just not in an organized fasion.

i agree, would be a good thing ( sorry for stealing the quote martha stewart) i say dumped thunderdome, and put the resources into the grow log forum. not only would it help the poster, but others can see what the next guy is doing, so if they are doing similar research, they can compare notes per say

In reply to:
"I'm warming up to this idea, I hate to add more forums, but once our new server is up nobody will mind anyhow.
well it looks like the new server's up
i think a grow log forum would be an excellent idea! and if you don't want to do it in a forum, just set up a section of the site similar to the trip reports section where people can add their logs to specified categories (by strain or species). it'd be nice if you could add pictures in those too, of course i've kept a few grow logs thus far (only got a few projects under my belt.. but i'll continue to do so 'cause it's a great reference tool). this one was my first, i'll make an effort to improve:Mushroom Venture - November/December 2001 =========================================
Strain: P.C. Thailand Lipa Yai Provided By: The Hawks Eye Substrate: BRF/verm + honey (as per www.shroomwizard.com) Jars: 12 - 1/2 pint jars (Ball wide-mouth) Casing: Verm Innoculation: November 5th, 2001 @ 7pm Note: Substrate jars sat for one week to observe any would be contams
Observations: Day 3: Spores have germinated in about half of the jars. Dime size growth in few. Day 5: All jars show growth at various stages. Added all jars to an aquarium with water heated to 86? to speed colonization. Day 10: Most jars are apx 25% colonized. One jar with only quarter-size growth. Day 15: Ripped off tape on top of jars. Most jars apx 35% colonized. Also removed saran wrap cover on aquarium. Will replace evaporated water every 2 days. Day 20: Jars are between 60-90% colonized. No contams. Day 25: Jars birthed before full colonization due to too much moisture. I suspect the dry verm layer absorbed moisture evaporating from the warm water bath. Lost one-half cake to purple contam that smells like wine. Most cakes at 85%+ colonized.
Casing Date: November 30th, 2001 @ 7pm Casing Observations: 0.5" verm base / 1.5" substrate / 0.25" casing layer Day 1: Covered in foil. Day 2: After 48 hours about 10 patches of mycelium (~1-2cm) poking through casing. Sprinkled fresh casing over patches, removed foil, placed in terrarium. Day 4: Mycelium has begun to overtake casing layer again. 12 hr light on. Fanning three times daily followed by a mist to boost humidity. Day 5: Mycelium fuzz poping out evenly throughout all three casings. Still fanning 3-4 times daily. Day 7: Mycelium growth continues. I have stopped misting and am fanning every 3-4 hours, day & night. Light on for apx 15 hours/day. Day 8: Pins! Three-pin cluster (quite large) on one casing. Hypal knots forming on other two casings. One small pin on second casing. Fan every 2-3 hours. *Day 9: That three-pin cluster... gettin mighty big 20+ pins total on all casings. Fanning every 3 hours. Day 10: Pins, pins everywhere. One casing with a very even pinset, others are scattered. Fanning every 4 hours. Day 11: Cluster harvested (6.9g wet wt.) 2 shrooms. Many pins devloping. Day 12: One shroom harvested (4.9g wet wt.). Got a farm goin! =D Day 13: Harvested 34.5g wet wt. (3am). Largest specimen was 13.8g wet. Harvested 29.7g wet wt. (1pm). 4.1g wet wt. (3:45p) 22.6g wet wt. (6:40p) Day 14: Harvested 23.7g wet wt. (12p). Harvested remaining 61.1g wet wt. (6p) Patched bare casings with new damp verm, misted, covered with foil. Sitting in terrarium for 6-7 days while I go to Oregon. Day 23: Trich on one casing, the other two are alive with nasty albino deformed shrooms... i'm trashin this operation out of lazyness. on to the eq's!
Flush 1 Harvest Date: 12/11-12/14 Flush 1 Wet/Dry Weight: 201.3g/25.7g
Total Wet Weight: SAA Total Dry Weight: SAA so how 'bout it?

i agree with the idea that grow log forum is a much needed and almost neccesary addition to this community. a grow log forum would allow newbs (such as myself) to look at a mass number of grow logs to get a better idea of what to expect. myself, ive been researching mushrooms for 2 years now, both cultivation and use, but am just now getting a started, and i think a grow log forum would definately help me, and would help me post a grow log of my research.
thanks

Hehe, just a silly little bump to say thanks to the shroomery. Growlogs are now a vital part of the community, and they are archived to boot. Thanks, I love reading them.

PM me with any cultivation questions.
I just looked at my profile and realized I had a website at one point in time on geocities, it's not there anymore and I have no idea what I had on it. Anybody remember my website from several years aga? PM if so please.
