TV tuner card / Program to recieve digital signals...
    #3296301 -

I've looked around but havn't really found much on the subject of TV Tuner cards being able to recieve digital signals from a cable. I think it would be really cool if there were some kind of program to watch the digital channels on the PC. Possibly even the on demand or PPV channels...

any input is appriciated

I got an aver tv stereo pci and it works fine. I capture a lot of stuff.

Just dont use that crap software they give you. Use Virtual Dub to capture video in a a lossless avi( i like huffyuv codec to capture into). Then use tmpegENC plus to re encode it to vcd/svcd/dvd compatible mpg format so you can burn it.

If you want you can capture right into a divx or xvid format compressed if you got a halfway decent puter, but i dont recommend it. I had xvid and divx too, i guess it doesnt matter if you will just view it on you computer, but i burn everything i capture off tv.

Do not capture into mpeg format(vcd/svcd) cuz its basically impossible to edit with out major desynching problems and the likes.

When looking at capture cards avoid usb, and get a pci. I got mine pretty cheap (30 i think on sale from tigerdirect) and it has sterio coax tuner, rca input, svid input. To use rca sound input for it you will either have to have a soundcard that has that (not likely) or get the rca 2 the line in size on yer soundcard(i forget the size of the plug right now).

I dont think you can have your computer program digital channels. You would just have to use a box and use svid or rca.
