Why did Saddam turn away the inspectors?
    #3233082 -

If there were no WMD's, why would he turn the inspectors away if he had nothing to hide? Now, some may insist that this is proof of his guilt, but the other day when I was having lunch with my grandparents, my grandfather came up with a rather interesting theory about it. He said it may be that Saddam actually liked the sanctions. After all, they weren't harming him, and they allowed him to shift the blame over to the evil Americans. Meanwhile, he may have also wanted Iran to think he had WMD's, so they wouldn't mess with him. What do you guys think?

Didn't he think they were spying? This isn't out of the realm of possibility for the U.S.

Also, considering he's rather unpopular with his neighbors, not to mention diametrically opposed to the radical islam terrorists.. he probably wanted to keep people guessing so all hell wouldn't break loose in Iraq. Just pure speculation at this point though. Also he was pretty cooperative with most of the inspections. And when he wasn't 100%, we'd bomb him.

From what I understand the only reason Saddam was obsessed with WMD's was because Iran was advancing in them. Saddam was obsessed with Iran, even more than the United States. To him, the U.S. was just a giant babysitter who was breaking up his quarrel with Iran, which is why he always snubbed the US.

He wanted to make all of the neighboring countries, most notably Iran, believe he had WMDs, that he was dangerous and could woop their asses.

Iraq attacking Iran would be a good thing from the American standpoint.

Because he's a man who hates freedom!!

Therefore, there's no reason to anything he does.

Because he could. No one was actually willing to hold him accountable for his actions for over a decade.

Who knows for sure what his problem was. Iraq actually argued that it was offensive for non Iraqis to be humiliating them like this.

The best shit I have ever heard is the Spy argument. OH DUH that is what inspectors are, spies. They just aren't there covertly. Remember Saadam you let them in to the country to make sure you were disarming, and then proceded to prevent them from doing there job for a Decade, blaming everyone but yourself.

All you pacifists are lambs to the slaughter. This world is not peaceful. It never has been.

The notion that a country can invade another, get thrown out of the country, not get overthrown at that time(due to agreements)then not live up to the agreements, and It IS OK.

The UN says they got a B+. Well they were required to get a A+, so they failed to live up to their agreement. It wasn't a math test, it was a MANDATORY DISARMING, with PROOF required, and continued monitoring without intimidation or threats of death.

I can't believe people rationalize for Saadam.

Yes WE are truley sorry for any and all innocents that suffered over the past decade of this bullshit, and the innocents that continue to suffer. There is a bright light at the end of the tunnel, and atleast we know now that it is not going to be MAN MADE LIGHT.

Iraq needs to start defending itself, and if you think the USA is who you need to be defending yourself from you are VERY CONFUSED.
