my killer tent setup on shrooms.
    #3190372 - 09/28/04 03:13 AM (19 years, 6 months ago)

went camping, not a sober minute from the time i left till i got back.  one hell of a good time.  dunno if pic shows it but here i setup the tent relativly decent ate some shroom and after a few bowls gave the tarp a try.

here it is with me tripping at it pretty good.

thank god my buddy didnt take any other pics (that im gonna show anyway) of the back of the tent.  i had compression straps, tent pole string you name it tied to the tarp.

couple more pics of the scenery.  A beautifull place to be, triping or not.

Peace and happiness all.  time to come down from a nice long getaway  :sun:

tripping while surrounded in canvas can be comforting, because when you realize that you are a glass of orange juice, you also realize you won't die if you spill, you will just form a pool in the canvas.

in strathcona park there is a "core" area at forbiden plateau (by mt washington ski resort), on that section it is very well done.  bordwalks platforms you name it.  it is convenient hiking but is really meant to keep peopl eoff the ground.  very delicate ecosystems and such.  but in the remaining many many miles of park its jsut rough cut trails through mountains and valleys.  we were with my buddies 5 year old cousin, so we had to stop at the 10k mark and jsut did day hikes all around.

on the way out we were pretty stumbly and stoned, and ended up talking to hundreds of people...the core is busy and needs the protection, but only experienced people should go any further.  pretty rough out there (but not much beats its beauty!!!).

and i didnt turn into a molten cup of orange juice   i wasnt in the tent untill i started getting real tired.  but that rope was endless entertainment.  adn the fish...oh the fish.

we spent about an hour or so chuckign rocks and such down there...got some videos. trust me that is SHIT rock for climbing. very brittle and weak, but htere is a TON of rock climbing that happens in the park. really good climbing, ice climbing too if thats your bag.

there is large slides at the bottom. there are also boulders that came down not too long ago that are probably about the size of the average 2 bedroom house. very cool, not the safest rock climbing. although we did some basic free hand stuff with our packs. i wouldnt want to get too far out there though...

well i just got the times colonist today (local paper). when we were there there was some adventure race that was completely stupid. they dropped a bunch of idiots out in the middle of nowhere with a small (school type) backpack and gear to fill it. they had to go on an unbelievable hike in 2 days. me and my friends with proper gear and some experience would take 2-3 days minimum, but these guys were totally unprepared and not fit for a hike of that calibar. it is a really rough hike.

anyway so today in the paper i see the main headline "25 rescued from adventure race". lol, i was surprised but not overly. apperently they couldnt handle the nights (with almost no sleeping gear in 2000 meter mountains i wonder why). i found it funny cause we were following one of the girls out and for about 2 hours she was in front of us talkign to herself. we offered her food but she just mumbled and went off.

what people do...its beyond me.

but ya thanks for the comments, it is truely amazing. im always up for going up into these places if there are any other backpackers that are interested. really is a place that needs to be enjoyed by many.

hahahhahahaha, real fucking survivalist, LOL.  Can't even figure out how to keep warm at night??? hmmmmmm....

Sounds like a great time for you though  Gawd, I need to get out, my favorite spot has been flooded and I don't care for the public ones in these parts, I guess I could drive a few hours and find a nice area, I probably should atleast one more time this year.

Beautiful pics bro, I wish this area was that interesting.

you definatly should. get there before the snow hits.

toally not survivalists. there was one guy who looked liek he was totally cracked out. he came running out of the bush stopped at the map boards cursed for a couple minuts then started running away agin. he had no backpack...very entertaining. but ya they were pretty stupid people. and i wouldnt be suprised if there may be some lawsuites somewhere.

i dunno (assuming your in the states) it seems everywhere i have been down south is jsut as interesting, albeit different. it is diverse here but we aint got any of the cool hot type environments. i would love to do some desert camping, that would be the shit. give my forests and mountains a break for a month and go visit the cactus lands. where abouts are you if you dont mind my asking?

ok so i just read the full article. it was a race that was for 35k and was to be filmed. 40 people went, only a handfull made it. my buddies uncle is a rescue and mapping guy up there so i guess once he got home he got to head right back out lol. they said that most people had a couple bottles of water, clothes that they were wearing a bit of food and that was it. no tent, bags, filter nothing. what a joke, they are seriously lucky no one died. soem injuries mainly twisted knees and ankles, but nothing serious. they were told it was gonna take 12 hours. it is a MINIMUM 2 days. 12 hours would be jogging the whole thing non stop. law suites i tells ya.

Beautiful scenery.

I live in Iowa about an hour south of the minnesota boarder and an hour east of the nebraska-south dakota border. The eastern section of this state is alot more diverse than this area, it doesn't change much around here unless I go south 60-100 miles and get into the Loess Hill region, a small range of rolling silt hills that have no equal in the world, they are right on the edge of the great plains. The closest thing is in China. Most of that land is privately owned though and the camping areas are very poor.

Most of our forest are in river valley's that are full of wild life and lush forest. This time of year I have to avoid red neck hunters when I go out so it's getting harder and harder to be able to enjoy the woodlands here. These next few weekends will be my last chances besides the shroomery gathering but that isn't what consider a real camping adventure, more of an outdoor gathering, still fun but not what I need at the moment.
