help with id .... ? pretty sure psilocybe
    #3089143 -

a. Habitat (where [state/province/country] and what does it grow on)

ohio .... dead leaves, etc (in a forest with lots of dead tree)

b. Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc)

pretty much whitish

c. Measurements of cap and stem.

1-4 cm cap
3-7 cm stem

d. Characteristics of the stem (color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc)

white, thin

e. Characteristics of the cap (color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc)

varying shades of orange ... convex ... umbomanate

f. Spore print color (very important!)

still being determined ... how many hours should i let the cap sit? ive only read a 'few' hours ... its been almost 3 now, can i check?

g. Color that the mushroom bruises

no bruise

h. Scent of mushroom

didnt notice any smell ....

(the first 2 pics were found in a different batch than the last 3 pics ... they look lighter in color, and slightly different in shape)

also, a couple questions ...
as you can see in one of the pics, one of them has been eaten by something ... if still [potentially] ok to consume?

wait i forgot the other question

because it looks quite similar to many pics of psilocybes in stamets's "psilocybin mushrooms of the world" and based on his key, as well as menser's "hallucinagenic and poisonous mushroom: field guide" the piece of data missing to 'make' it a psilocybe is that it has a dark purplish brown/black spore print ... (any help with my question regarding spore prints would definitely help, please) ... (and as we all know, plenty of psychoactive mushrooms dont bruise blue, and likewise, plenty nonpsychoactive mushrooms do bruise blue)

Yea, it puzzles me to hell how some people can see a correlation between certain species when to me they look NOTHING alike. I guess you just have to look at mushrooms for a long time to be able to notice the little things that distinguish each mushroom.

I guess its kind of like how all asians look alike to me, but if I got to know them I'd easily be able to tell them apart.

haha thanks ... anyways, white spore print ... but i will say they do look *similar* to some pics of psilocybes ive seen, though not exactly the same .. which is why i asked for help ...  (obviously, due to the white spore print, its not one though) .. maybe "pretty sure" wasnt the right phrase .. a couple of types that i found do have a dark purplish brown spore print, so upon further investigation i might be asking for more help in the future  ... thanks

The fact that it has white gills pretty much keys out that its NOT a Psilocybe.

Other things like sporeprint...Im guessing the spores are white, thats why you cant see it.

As for an ID, its maybe some sort of Collybia?

angryshroom has the same idea as I do. Those look pretty similar to Collybia strictipes.

Happy mushrooming!
