Question.
    #308307 - 05/03/01 06:13 AM (22 years, 7 months ago)

Good morning ladies and gentlemen:

I have a few casings of cambodian, grown on brf, with a pure vermiculite casing. Temp 85 - 90 Humidity 85-95. My question is, I have been misting 2 times a day, when pins start popping out of the casing material do i stop misting all together or just reduce. Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Stop as soon as you see pins. The water droplets can cause them to abort.

Over misting is the biggest cause of failure.

As long as there is moisture on the inside walls of your terrarium, your humidity is over 90%.
If you lid is airtight, this humidity will hold for a good 2 or 3 days before more misting is needed!

Mushrooms and the mycellial cake are like sponges and they will absorb the moisture out of the air so easily. Too much moisture, they become to wet and fail to fruit. Or if it has started to fruit, the little guys will get so waterlogged so easily they will abhort.
