Washing question

When you pick....there is some soil on the bottom of the shrooms. Do you wash of this area, or dry and deal with it later?

Just wipe it off with a damp cloth or brush off with hand. Some will fall off as it drys but some will be 'imbedded' in the shroom. Cut or scrape off or don't worry about, a couple flecks of vermiculite won't kill you.

Do not immerse in a kitchen sink full of water! They are almost like sponges and will become waterlogged fast.
I wuldn't put it in the dishwasher either....

I find it easiest to remove the soil after the shrooms are dry. Try this, place dried shrooms in a colander and bounce them around some.
