Although you definitely have a point and put it very elequently (and I'd agree with you if I were still Christian ), you could never be a minister with that angle.

The way you are portraying it is not how a priest would portray it IMO. They do not want Jesus Christ to be related to evil. That is the SATAN'S work!

They don't want us to forget about Satan, oh no.. Jesus has nothing to do with all of the evil in the world; its that evil motherfucker who will fuck you up for eternity if you commit any of the right sins, and Jesus shalt smile upon thee

Ever hear the one about the original lightbringer being Lucifer and jesus being the reincarnation of him? Ahahahahahahahaha There's a veil I would love to see lifted and all of these christians would be walking around dazed and confused.

Satan, is like the boogie man in the dark closet. Turn on the lights and ............nothings there. It was all in the imagination!

People are funny. Planet earth is like the universes comedy central.

I'm not a christian but let me have a shot at the Message.

I think the wedding-guest was bitching to downplay the Miracle. Envious drunks do that. So I think it does imply they indeed had some before running out, and that Jesus wasnt universally liked.

Now as for the Miracle.
They had the wine. Why did there need to be more?

I think wine as a symbol of fertility, purity, the life force (vines springing from near-barren desert soils) and blood. It was laden with more symbolism then a Divine inebriant.
"This is My LSD. Take it in rememberance of Me."
Inebriation by moderate amounts of alcohol in the right company can be far more psychedelic then taking mushrooms in the wrong company.

Hippies turned on a General with LSD to make him see the Light and end the Vietnam war. Well: he saw the light. He spent his trip over maps and calculations designing elaborate bombing patterns which indeed could've been more "inspired" then sober.
"Psychedelic" is mostly what you --do-- with it.

Back on track.
Jesus felt a miracle was needed to provide more wine.
I think this was both symbolic, to sanctify the wedding with a symbol of Life/Fertility and perhaps also because additional inebriant was called for.

Moderation is a golden thread throughout the Gospel (said my Catholic elementary school) but if Jesus says upon the last Supper:

"This (wine) is My Blood, take it in rememberance of Me."

It seems clear to me -moderate alcohol consumption- was more then a symbol, but also the "entheogen" among his disciples he condoned, because it really sounds to me the consumption of the wine added to the rememberance, linking loosening of inhibitions with coming nearer to the Essence many experience upon light intoxication.
The passing of the chalice solemnified their togetherness for the final time.

If the Lord Jesus Christ made wine the symbol of his very Blood, he raised this inebriant to a sacramental level, as reflected by the Catholic Church in contemporary.

If you consider none of the Disciples took the task of the ritual washing of feet upon them and let Jesus himself do that because they perhaps felt too good for it, the ability of slight alcoholic inebriation to loosen people from their momentary hangups would make wine at the Last Supper table more then a symbol for their unity and symbol of His blood which was to be shed soon thereafter, but it likely also worked as a -psychedelically used inebriant- of, basically, their Last Session.

To me it seems that Jesus chose (fermented, basically putrified) wine over grape juice squeezed fresh from the hand as the spirits (alcohol) were not detrimental and perhaps a desirable part, of the Sacrament.

this you guys might like...:

Matthew 11

Jesus and John the Baptist

After Jesus had finished instructing his twelve disciples, he went on from there to teach and preach in the towns of Galilee.
When John heard in prison what Christ was doing, he sent his disciples to ask him, "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?"
Jesus replied, "Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me."
As John's disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: "What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings' palaces. Then what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about whom it is written:

" 'I will send my messenger ahead of you,
who will prepare your way before you.' "

I tell you the truth: Among those born of women there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist; yet he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. From the days of John the Baptist until now, the kingdom of heaven has been forcefully advancing, and forceful men lay hold of it. For all the Prophets and the Law prophesied until John. And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. He who has ears, let him hear.
To what can I compare this generation? They are like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling out to others:

" 'We played the flute for you,
and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge
and you did not mourn.' "

For John often goes without eating and he has never touched a drop of liquor all his life, and you say, "He has a demon in him." and I, the Messiah, eat my food and drink my liquor, and you say, "He is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and of the worst sort of sinners." But wisdom is proved by what results from it.

The question is, why is it so special and meaningful to share the good wine at last ?

I think the answer is clear, it points to heavenly realm beyond life (which of course for the positive could be brought up onto earth).
