storing with damp rid?
    #3015214 - 08/17/04 07:12 PM (19 years, 7 months ago)

Hey all, I have a lot of dried mushies to store (well not really but a lot for me), would a good way of doing this be putting the mushies in a container with damp rid in it (not so theyre touching, but in the same container,so the moisture keeps out)?
I'm looking to store them for about a month... probably less.. but is this a safe and healthy way of keepin the mushies good?

thanks guys

If they're already dried, then whats the point of damp rid?

damp rid gets wet once it gets saturated. silica packets would work much better.

I allways keep any silica bags or the plastic small ones that come in aspirin bottles and put them in a small baggie with totally allready dry shrooms

Damp Rid is great. Just keep it away from contact. I have a large popcorn tub with a 1-2" layer of Damp-Rid, and a wire rack another 2-3" above that for the fruits to sit on. They last pretty much forever in this environment. Nearly freeze dried.
