Anyone know what could be the problem with my computer?

I wasn't quite sure where to post this but..
Lately my computer will not download anything directly from Internet Explorer. For example, when I try to download sets from nugs.net, I get the following message:

"Internet Explorer cannot download [item]

Internet Explorer was not able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or cannot be found. Please try again later."

At first I just blew this off, but it happens EVERY time I try to download something, no matter what site it is from. So any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

did you try jiggling the cables?
