What Music?
    #2982873 -

I will be taking shrooms for the first time in the near future and have read up on it extensively. One thing I'd like to know is the type of music more experienced people recommend. I've been thinking along the line of Pink Floyd, Greatful Dead, Incubus, and some short tracks(no lyrics) by Tool (mantra, intermission, eon blue apocolypse).

I didn't want to use anything too loud and am trying to stay away from lyrics just in case I take them the wrong way. Basically, what do the rest of you recommend I listen to to get the best possible experience I can.

I listened to a lot of Pink Floyd my first trip, it was perfect. I'd steer clear of TOOL for your first time.

Shpongle, pink floyd is good to. I listened to Drum'n'Bass, Tool and a bit of metal my first time, it got a bit doom filled at some points.

Damn!  You beat me to it!

I like listening to:  B-Tribe, Rasa, Vas and some other ones.  Very mellow, transcendant music.

Well basically the tool tracks are short solos used for transition on the album. One sounds like whales(mantra), one is a quiet guitar solo(eon blue apocolypse), and the last one is a happy sounding organ track that is something you might hear at a carnival(intermission). I would definately not listen to the harder stuff on my first trip, but figured these would be good transitions for the other longer stuff i have in there. So far my playlist is:

Tool - Mantra
Pink Floyd - Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun
Pink Floyd - Cluster One
Pink Floyd - Marooned
Tool - Eon Blue Apocolypse
Tool - Intermission
Pink Floyd - Comfortably Numb
Incubus - Aqueous Transition
Pink Floyd - Echoes
Greatful Dead - What's Become of the Baby

It's only an hour long now, I'm not sure what else is safe to put in.

Well if I were you I wouldn't listen to a mix, I mean, whatever, you can listen to whatever you want but whenever I trip I love exploring an album, like this one whole world an artist/artists created with a beginning and an end.

That sound like a good idea..I'm hoping to be able to get a few trips worth (they never come around out here) so I'll try out a few different things, I'm just looking for the best possible stuff to listen to

I agree. Are You Shpongled? is my favorite movie. Meaning the visuals and emotions I get while tripping and listening to Shpongle is one the best things I've ever experienced.

Future Sound of London's Lifeforms and their EP's, as well as Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, are also outstanding "movies".

Love your way of putting it, McKenna! Wish You Were Here for me was a movie about a humongous dancing creature. He told me the whole story.

Forgot to mention Banco de Gaia.  Now that man can create some good "movies."   His album Magical Sounds of Banco de Gaia was one of the first true enlightening experiences I've ever had and cannot recommend it enough.

I think it is interesting to note how an artist or band can create a masterpiece using such a short amount of time like WYWH, and how another artist can fill the CD to the top, and I still have a hard time choosing who I want to listen to.  Its a great dilemma to have.

I've always enjoyed monk chants while tripping, benedictine, and buddhist. Also, nature sounds are nice, you can close your eyes and just walk through a rain forrest from your own living room. But those are just my tastes, YMMV.

If you're looking to go completely insane for a few hours, listen to the Shpongle CDs one after another. It will take a lot out of you, JUST listening. Don't bother trying to judge it sober first if you're going to be tripping to it.

Insert an "I think" mentally in front of eveything I say that seems sketchy, because I certainly don't KNOW much. Also; feel free to yell at me.
In addition: SHPONGLE

Oh don't forget these tracks if you're making a mix - very easy to laugh with:

Psychedelic Sunday Circus Success

Train Wreck

Whoops!

i resently did my first solo trip and i wanted to listen to some music to see what it was like. i started off with an aphex twin album i had and it was pretty sweet, i listened to the music that night in the dark. after a few tracks i decided to switch it up a bit, and i was gonna get a bit risky and listen to one of my favorite bands of all time, Opeth. the reason this was gonna be risky is that Opeth are, well they are a death metal band for the most part. however, their albums are conceptual albums and tell a story, and their music is very complex and beautiful for the most part. listening to Opeth was amazing. i was still alone in the dark listening to them, and it was as if all these different layers of music were just dancing and weaving. felt as if the room was expanding forever as the music reached out. was really enjoyable.

so id say, just take whatever kinda music you really enjoy listening to and it will sound awesome.
