Damn them some slow boys! I guess I never really paid attention to how long they take because I have other things going on.... That does seem excessive though. You watering enough? They look currently wet in this pic but that may not always be the case. That's the only thing I can think of.

They were wet either from the rain or from the morning dew. So I didn't water them recently. But I was watering my pots when it was dry.

What type of substrate u end up using for those wavy caps / pseudo casing or casing and any idea on temp range it lived through n fruited in? Much appreciated all around xd

These Psilocybe cyanescens have quite a story

Last year, I put some colonized substrate into outdoor flowerpots. There was just a little bit of wood chips left in the jar, literally a handful. I sprinkled some soil over them right in the jar, and the mycelium started growing upward very quickly.
I added more wood chips, or, really, shavings. They were untreated rabbit bedding. I misted them with water, and the mycelium consumed those too.

But autumn was already approaching, and mushrooms started growing right in the jars in the unheated stairwell lol I didn’t take them out, they stayed there and overwintered, frozen into a block of ice.

In spring, I realized the culture was still alive. The fungus had eaten about half the wood chips, so I covered it again, this time with fermented material: wood chips, cones, pine needles, and branches that had simply been soaking in a tub outside for a couple of weeks.

In summer, I transferred it to a shoe box and added some more wood chips.
Everything colonized, and closer to autumn, pins began appearing right under the lids. The temperature in the stairwell was about 10°C.
I took off the lid, covered the box with another one of the same kind, and shifted it diagonally a little to let air circulate.
I misted it in the morning and evening, and that’s how they grew.

They’re a little different from the ones outdoors, somewhat taller and chunkier.

I didn’t use any casing layer, it was all wood chips. The main type was alder chips for smoking, along with small sticks, pine needles, and cones I’d brought back from the forest.

That’s their story from the start to now, a year and a half later.

I hope you all had a cold and wet weekend!
We sure did for a change.

Most are reluctantly pinning now. Cyans have been improving.
It's already looking dry. After I'm done picking, I'll water everything again.

Hey Bra, nice cyans!

The serbica hasn't pinned here, yet.

Here's some stem butt cyans in a flowerpot.

Amazing shrooms, Tweeq! Which Serbica variety is this? They look gorgeous!

Welcome to the official Serbica thread https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/29457559#29457559
Any tips and details on how you grow them, how you prepared the substrate, e.t.c., will be very appreciated!

Tbh I treated them exactly like I would any other woodlover.
Agar - Grains - Sterile wood chips - Spawn early spring.

This pot is from 2025 and it fruited back then as well.

I need some help. I have a tub of cyans fully colonized on wood chips. I don’t know where to go with it next. I started an outdoor bed but I’m hoping to fruit a tub indoors as well.

Idk about your indoor temps but what they need to pin is lots of moisture and cold. Maybe you can leave the tub outside for a few days and nights, while soaking it in ice cold water on day 1.
Something like that. It will never fruit if you keep it at room temp.

Cyans indoors is never easy. I'm not saying you're gonna see fruits if you do what I suggested. But it's what I would try first, in a nutshell.

Great shrooms, guys! Has anyone managed to grow Ps. serbica? I haven’t yet. I’m wondering how it’s going with serbica on your end.

Though... This is Ps. cyanescens indoors. The experiment was successful!

Beautiful Cyans!

I'm doing Serbica outdoors so hopefully I have something to post next year.

Do I need to case it or leave it bare wood chips?  I have a fridge that I lager beer in. It’s been in and out of there almost daily but maybe i will start misting it too. That fridge averages between 40 and 45 degrees.

Hf...might have interesting stuff going on with 9 month old cyan and azure spawn...oddly they held up in grain bags the whole 9 months but only one cyan bag survived that time in a fruiting bag , the rest the filter detached.( All unicorn bags )
But I see what appears to be knots after a couple weeks of casing and rehydrating indoors

They need lots of fresh air exchange too. If it's fruiting season where you are at, I would take my chances outside, rather than in the house/fridge. I would probably take the lid off too and expose it to the elements. If too much water pools up just keep draining it out (or drill holes in the bottom).

Cyans don't require a casing to fruit. It's not impossible to fruit Cyans indoors but it's never easy like I said before.
