hello, im planning on making an outdoor bed for ethier P. Azurescens, P. Cyanescens soon. but i have a couple questions.
from a link, i was reading about different types of wood woodlovers live off of and it said a couple but mostly all decidious species will work fine. is this true? because i was planning on chopping some trees down and using them. i have a couple options, can someone tell me which is best? here are my options:
oak, walnut, ash, cherry, maple, elm, willow, birch and white and yellow poplar(i knwo this one will work fine, redcedar and a couple different types of pines
i was planning on starting them with birch plugs from mycosupply.com in spawnbags with BRF(introducing the plugs to the BRF after coloniztion). so will the birch plugs work? and can i mix different types of wood into the same spot?
last question, should i try P. Azurescens or P. Cyanescens?

The birch will work, as will the walnut I think(because I picked TONS of cyans this year in a hazelnut patch)(I THINK the ash will work to, but wait for someone else to confirm that one)
As for the others I am curious to see how this thread develops, because I have more Cyan spores then I could ever use
go with the P. Cyanescens.
I am curious is any of these will work "cherry, maple, elm, willow oak".
Birch plugs?? Dont you mean SPAWN PLUGS FOR Birch???, please explain. i.e. the cyan mycelium would be in the plug(well inside it, sorta)

i was going to use the birch plugs as a source of wood after i had 1/2 pint jars colonizied. and use the birch plugs in spawn bags. mycosupply sells them by 2500.
and what does conifers mean? are they pines?

Buy some wood locally(IMO) , why would you want ship plain(no mycelium)Birch?
Well, PINES ,are Conifers. Conifers dont just include Pines, there are Yews , redwoods, even Juniper(spelling?) is a Conifer.
I would mix my 1/2 pints with wood, sawdust, or soaked cardboard(at the right time of year.....to set up an outdoor grow)
Heres a good ?
Do you plan on growing these cyans indoors? (its MUCH harder then growing cubies indoors, or Cyans outdoors, be aware that if you are new to shrooms, this will be a challange.
I hope that helped , a little.
