    #4367053 - 07/03/05 06:25 PM (18 years, 8 months ago)

Incubation - 82F-84F

Temp drop of about 20F. for fruiting.

But how cold is to cold?

Freezing? (32F)

Dont know if this will help or not but:

Anno said--Habit & Habitat:
Cespitose to gregarious on deciduous wood-chips and/or in sandy soils rich in
lignicolous debris. Aspect collyboid, generating an extensive, dense and
tenacious mycelial mat, P. azurescens causes the whitening of wood. Fruitings
begin in late September and continue until harsh frost, usually mid-November.

"Untill harsh frost" so im guessing freezing point would not work well....

I'll keep lookin for ya...

Hmmm...

I've read that death occurs at 96F...(or was if 106F?)....

In the winter it typically gets around 40F....And when the Frost comes (usually like only a week on and off) it's like 30F...lowest was like 28F i think...

I was just hoping that I could knock up some azures before winter...then fruit them outside in a FC.....

B/c it's summer here and I can't get my shiitake to fruit...and it's only going to get warmer so i'm sure that these azures will just laugh in my face....

I was just hoping that they could survive a freeze or two...

Thankx a bunch for the help man

Anno also said this :
"The patch itself can sustain temperatures far under the freezing point. Just the mushrooms don't grow anymore when the temperature is under 0?C."

In this thread....
http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/2349272/page//fpart/7/vc/1

Ps. Stamets & Chilton say (p. 197 in the Growing Parameters for Various Mushroom Species section):
Substrate Temperature:84-86 F. Thermal death limits have been established at 106 F.
Not sure if this applies to azures tho...
