Best option is to toss it. Second best is to harvest your stones now, clone them, and toss the rest. Third best is to let them grow in the jar as long as you can before the green gets to them.

Thanks y'all! I would love to try a sclerotia for Halloween so that works out!

I will extract the stones, attempt to clean up what I see and then top fruit. Now I just need to find something to isolate this in for fruiting. :hmm:

I think I know the answer to this one but if my jars smell like they're fermenting and recover slowly, then they're fucked? Don't know if 2 hours at 12 psi (the highest my cooker will go) wasn't enough or my lc is bacterial. Hmmm...

If you can smell fermentation, I would say they are done.
To see if your lc is bacterial you can try to get some lc liquid on an agar plate. Let the mycelium settle down and try just the nutrient broth. It's more then likely you'll get some mycelium in it but it might take longer to grow then the bacteria.
I run my jars at 18psi for 2 hours which I'm sure it's overkill but I've had better success then doing 90 minutes.
I think at 12psi it would need to be longer then 2 hours, I know people say it's fine but it sounds like a minimum to me. I would do 3 hours, and don't forget to vent it for 10-15 minutes too. Also, are you soaking your grain? I had more success soaking for 36-48 hours, plus the boil only takes about 15-20 minutes since they grain hydrates while soaking.

Fermenting is sign of bacteria, both the LC or non sterile grains are likely.

Were these grain jars in an electric pressure cooker? What size jars?

I run mine for 3 hours, and I vent for 15 minutes. This does take care of quart jars but I would suggest smaller and more.

How slow to recover? IF they colonize back all the way you will likely be able to get a flush from them, but don't expect much, use low spawn ratios.

I've maded sterile water syringe with pumping boiling water in/out. I put some on agar 4 days ago and it's completely clean.
Is it safe to say water syringe is good to go?

Yeah go for 3 hours, I use an instapot and 3 hours is the cycle I run for grain. Plus the 10 min vent as pressure starts building.

Yes you can make a sterile water syringe by aspirating boiling water a few times. There are more high tech methods but it this works. Stipe shows it in a vid on putting spores to agar.

If you want to use the syringe you made 4 days ago there's a chance of contam depending on how it was handled. Just do a new one, leave it in your SAB or in front of your flow to cool and you're set.

Yes Bluescreen, that's how I did it. Thank you for your response.
I'm aware of PCing the syringe, but I hadn't need to sterilize anything else at time so it seemed silly to do it for one syringe. Any other methods I've missed?
I emptied mine in the sink every time instead of back to the pot. Aspirated maybe 10 times. I had my needle on the whole time. And put the needle cap on when I was done.
After it cooled down, I flame sterilized needle and put some on agar inside the SAB and left the syringe there.

Can contams really get in though needle(18G) like that?
How about agar, what would be the time window for contams to show up?

You are amazing. Thank you everybody!

I add boiling water to jars and soak them for 1 hour. Then I strain, fill the jar, shake and strain again. Then they go to PC.

I think the jars are like half a quart and I can only fit 2 in my electric pc. 2 hours is maximum but maybe I can start it again right after it's done. It auto vents before pressurizing. I can afford a proper PC so I'll consider seriously now.

Tested the lc on agar and I didn't see obvious bac but could be enmeshed in an unusual way. Myc grew but was very thin and tough to see.

Slow to recover as in it's been 3 days and lots of grains still look like they're not inoculated. 2 jars look nasty, as if I shook decomposing matter and others just seem slow. I'll throw the obvious ones away and give the more promising ones a few days to maybe spawn to a 1:1 ratio.

Much love and success to y'all

If the cap "stayed clean" and nothing was further aspirated into the syringe when the needle was possibly unsterile should be fine. I don't like pc-ing full syringes as I'd only do it along with other stuff and the cycle time is long enough they end up empty or distorted or both.

Aspirating boiling water has always worked fine

Hopefully you have a little space in the tops of your jars. You can case with coir, then cover with a pin prick holed baggie, or put the jars in a fruiting chamber, eg water tub, to help with surface conditions. :awesomenod:

dont really need a tek its just some prepped coir/verm or whatever you are using evenly covering the top of the grains maybe haalf inch worth and treat like you would anything you are fruiting.

works really well even if you throw it out.
