I’m glad I could teach you what soaking is, I lived in Provo Utah for a while and grew up mormon. Shits wild. But so easy to make fun of. Its actually funny the accuracy of some of the details in the South Park episode. Go watch it if you want to find out what mormons believe without reading the Book of Mormon.

And you wonder why I was a rebel and ended up doing hella drugs. Luckily most of my family has made it out! To be fair most are really good people.

i would drill 1/4 inch holes 2 inches apart on all six sides and spray and fan few times a day :thumbup:

That was an invitro pin that took off before the cake started pinning like it is now.

I got holes its an EZ dial but with more holes. I live in an extremely dry environment so shotgun doesn’t work for me and with the air movement in the room haven’t had an issue of not enough FAE. And I’m bottom watering while it’s pinning I don’t mist unless I absolutely have to, which is actually more than I want it to be where I live. The 4-5 inches of perlite have water droplets on the surface.

This is my first time using an EZ dial so it is new experience for me. Does it look dry? Or like it has lack of fae? I could be totally wrong thinking ok but I am getting tons of pins.

Surface: this little puff popped up when I had half the holes covered, but pinned and stopped the tomentose(sp?) growth when I opened all the holes. (this cake is a mutant SA that will throw weird stuff sometimes) the rest are B+ practice cakes.

Should I pull the big weirdo? Or let it ride? Like will if affect the all the pins popping up?

Tripdog- I would love some advice if you see something. I really don’t know what surface conditions look like on verm? I see it easy on coir, but I don’t know if the bottom pic looks dry without the droplets? I’m bottom watering (want to try it during pinning) but IDK if it looks dry on the surface or not? I have had tons of new pins popping up the last two days and don’t want them to go to waste!

Any time I have tried to use large holes or a sgfc I ended up having to cover most of it to not dry out even with misting (schedule doesn’t allow me to mist more than once a day consistently) but if it needs more FAE I’m sure someone here can help me find a way!

Joe, I think they look good. I wouldn't add any more FAE personally.

And yeah, same thing happens to me with the vermiculite, but honestly I just go by the color or the micro-droplets on the mycelium that manage to poke through. And as soon as I see pinning — I stop misting altogether.

Regarding the cake with the upside-down mushroom — you can always lay it on its side. Or pick it off and let the others grow. Though I'd probably just turn it on its side.

A cake lying on its side looks cool too. :paradisiscoolwhat:

It’s even more open now, there are too many pins to turn it on its side. I am going to take it off. It’s ready anyway. But just turned on my dehydrator and the fan is dead womp womp.

KSSS, one showing the squat pheno, the other producing a big curvy boy just for cakewonder's rectum.



Newest cake is Sibu, which I have had a MAJOR ordeal trying to get it to fruit since I got a wedge, probably from an ISO LC.

Another Sibu Cake that is getting close to dunk time, but still has some stuff to take care of.



Columbia Rust Spore cakes moving in silence like lasagna. The Cronicr type cakes are bad for contaminations through the edges, so I've avoided touching these as much as possible. Gonna have prints galore.



Muda, RIP. I am using a slightly modified straw recipe that you had in the updated bottle tek. Gotta say, mycelium seems to love it. None of them have contaminated despite coffee and stuff and MS syringes.



The mycelium has whispered the insight that they like how cooked and pre-digested it was. Probably makes it more like poop, but delicious.

On another note, what to do with the cake post-harvest? Dunk again? Just rinse and rub?

I got a few cakes going, couple of PESH and a Rusty Whyte. I nocced 3 of each 12th of September, lost one of each, a PESH to mold and a RW to bac- it might have made it but it went schizo ryzo in half with the rest void so nah. Here's two PESH and a RW.



Nocced 6 x7x+ off a print from a really nice surprise grow the 29th- that's the one on its side. I squirt in the middle, lid off, 9/10 see myc on the bottom first, then the sides. Doin fiiiine. I got my money on these boys. Upright jar is a RW that finally consolidated, will get its soak tomorrow. I also noticed, at least with spore syringes, I get better results with the dry verm layer. Probably a hydration thing.
