I cleaned carpets briefly a decade ago. I didn’t mind the work itself but being alone in stranger’s homes was terrible. More recently I worked for a stonemason who taught me the base skills of the trade. That was some work I genuinely enjoyed and mercifully all the work was outdoors. I still didn’t love interacting with the homeowners but at least I was always 2nd banana and leaned into that role.

Now I get to be agoraphobic and work from home :farmerdance:

Nice. Masonry work would be cool.

Yeah being in someone's personal space is a different ball game.

Seen some hoarders that literally only had a slim path through the house.

One dude pulled a sex doll out on me and tried to get me to touch it. I was about to knock him out.

And of course that dude was training to be an elementary school gym teacher.

Most people are cool though really. Some give me cash and liquor so.

One good thing about this kind of work, I ran all my jobs and now I'm off work at 2:00.

Time to get high.

Yeah the masonry was pretty fun and I've been able to apply a lot of those skills to doing some repairs at the new spot. The carpet cleaning sort of set me up for failure cause I was there to clean and some of those places were pretty goddamned gross. The sights were easier to block out of my memory but the smells... Dear God the smells...

I’m only on weed, beer, and shrooms. Perfectly safe. It’s what they give babies in the hospital.

He's gonna keep the bender rolling until he hits 5k posts and then he'll have another histrionic fit where he claims he's never coming back before he comes back 4 months later.

And you’ll mourn my absence each of those days. Excellent idea about quitting at 5,000. I will renounce drugs, alcohol and shitposts once and for all. I’m going to rally, run some errands, gather supplies and start getting fucked up in a few hours.

Opt in when you come back.

You're a fun motherfucker.

And also the only threadkiller up at 6 AM usually.

You will come back too. This place is like heroin.

Calling... in the dark of night..

Opt out any time you like, but you can never leave

Actually interestingly enough when you do opt out you're not allowed to have it reversed for 2 1/2 years I believe.
He'll be back…
