If the gang ruled land of hati with starvation and rape, murder, mass killing on the street Haiti can have election on 13 of December this year. Then so can Ukraine.

So why do you think there aren't elections in Ukraine?

Because its been 7 year and he refuses to run one out of fear of such results.

https://time.com/article/2026/08/19/zelenskyy-faces-pressure-to-hold-elections-what-stands-in-the-way-/

Again living in Ukraine anywhere is better and more stable then Haiti. President Volodymyr Zelensky is a petty dictator that we collectively tolerate because it serves our needs nothing more. If you can defend him with a stable well thought out policy he has made without having to look it up then bully for you. I can't find anything to tolerate about him politically or policy wise. Any leader hanging onto power by sacrificing its people's lifes, freedoms, futures so he can hold on to power. Especially since the lives he spends are for the other Europeans nations that Ukrainian people hate like the Germans is a sign of evil that can't be ignored but will be glossed over in history books.

Because the guy in power would lose.

The question was why, and that link had a good response.

Quote:
What stands in the way of holding elections in Ukraine?

Historically, very few countries have held elections in wartime, Konstantin Sonin, a professor at the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy, tells TIME, adding that it's very unlikely for an election to happen in Ukraine.

A ceasefire would first be needed—but Sonin says it’s unlikely that Ukraine would trust any assurances from Russia.

“I cannot imagine that Ukraine would rely on any kind of guarantees from Russia to have elections,” Sonin tells TIME. “[Concerns about] Russian election interference are half of the problem.”

Sonin says that there are also many “practical limitations” to putting the necessary technology and infrastructure in place for a secure vote.

“The main limitation is that it's difficult to count votes from the occupied territories,” he says.

Russia occupies roughly 19% of Ukraine. According to Ukrainian figures from January of that year, there could be as many as 4.5 million adults living in those occupied territories. Millions more Ukrainians have been internally displaced.

I guarantee you that ecstatic won't address any of that in a meaningful way.  He doesn't actually think that fair elections can happen in occupied Ukraine.  He just wants to keep it very surface so he can claim that it's Zelensky who is anti-democratic instead of Russia.  If he thought elections could take place, he'd offer suggestions about how it can be done.

Meanwhile, Russia hasn't had a fair election in decades and Putin has killed political rivals.

Sidestepping the point: Zelenskyy isn’t holding elections because he’ll lose. All the talking points from the guy at University of Chicago are window dressing.

If Zelenskyy had polls suggesting he’d win despite all that, he’d hold elections.

Oddly, getting elected by running on “let’s not do war” but then giving the Pentagon the keys to the country turned out to be unpopular.

Gotta feel for the guy, though, because, for the first time in history, we’re throwing his administration under the bus after we got what we wanted out of it.

Oh look...not a single suggestion about how an election could even be held.  Who could have predicted that????

Your logic is unassailable, though.

Ecstatic: He's ending democracy by not having elections

Logic: It's impossible to have a fair election in occupied ukraine

Ecstatic: So? He's not having elections!

Well don’t be a hypocrite. Where is your evidence / suggestions that Russian elections aren’t as fair as they should be? Or are you just keeping it surface level

Why are you "what-abouting" with Russia...

That is irrelevant.

It is highly relevant.  Russia occupies a large portion of Ukraine.  How can you expect Russia to allow Ukraine to have a fair election in those portions if they can't have fair elections in their homeland?  Russia's ability/will to hold fair elections is directly relevant to any election Ukraine might hold on land controlled by Russia.

The obvious answer is to hold an election in the unoccupied territories. It's not perfect, but it's better than no election.

So just concede the territories..

That's the only suggestion anyone in support of russia seems to have, give up the land, concede the territory, c'est la vie.

The only problem in ukraine is russia.  When russia dies and or leaves/loses, we can judge Zelenskyy for any action he takes after that.  For now, he is a hero that put his own life on the line for being the one.

So an election ignoring a huge portion of the population is an obvious answer?  Nice hot take.

They shouldn't have been taken over then.  Jesus again if Haiti can pull off an election so can Ukraine.  The occupation sections just won't count just like we do in the united states against the poors.
