Old LME dried up to a solid block
    #29667712 -

So I have this bag of unopened LME from a year or two ago and I’m trying to use it now. Would it still be good? Can I just toss it into the pc as a block or do I have to melt it down somehow?

Did you try breaking it up with your hands

It absorbed moisture, yes you can use it. Though some of the weight will be moisture. Weigh the bag, check the bag for what it should weigh, break off a chunk with a weight corresponding too how much moisture its taken on, crush it up if you'd like easier dissolving add it to the agar and water. Shake it around/ let it sit until it dissolves more easily.

Boom your in business :rockon::mushroom2:

That has happened to me as well. After trying to smash it with a hammer to no avail, I ended up putting it in my high speed blender.

When you reorder, immediately open the bag and place in a glass quart jar with plenty of silica gel packets. Then seal the jar tightly, even using a vacuum lid if you have one.
