I made 2 big planters last year that did nothing except grow some slime mold on top and something that looked like a parasitic fungus, dumped them a couple weeks ago.

I just started 2 new grain jars to try again. But summers here are very hot and dry, up to 40 c sometimes, and there are no spots with much moisture or shade nearby. So idk how well they’ll fare in such conditions, but I’ll try again anyway.

I have 2 planters going currently, one of them has mycelium creeping up at the surface. Fingers crossed.

Heya guys! :smile:

I ended up finally cleaning up the print and got all the way to spawning! The spawn was finally very healthy and vigorous made from rye: I spawned that to over 2 months soaked Beech + Alder woodchips onto a big planter which I also put some small Rhododenrons in! All of this under a rain guard near a fig tree, so there is shade but also light depending on the time of day. I keep them moist every 2 days by spraying it with the hose.

After spawning and putting the plants in, I put a layer of rhododendron soil on top. A few weeks later and it is completely colonized and white under it anywhere I check! It completely took over all the woodchips, it absolutely loved them. This was around mid April! Now we are waiting for the completely healthy, vigorous, colonized IWL planter bed with rhododendrons to produce some fruits! Lets hope they do, I have done my best to provide the conditions. :grin:

Hi Tweeq,
Still keeping myc alive on agar.
Past indoor attempt were not successful (totally neglected them)
Same for outdoor even if the mycelium was thriving in my garden, it is too dry here for leaving them without watering and managing humidity.
They seemed to have enjoyed the very hot weather of my region so that's a good start.
I intend to make a raised bed with dirt, wood chips and dead leaves that will be watered with automatic dripping, so who knows...
Anyway thank you for your work on this specie and for the sharing of both spores and knowledge.

Yo after researching wayondensis I've found it's closest relative is caerulescens which is a primary soil decomposer secondary wood decomposer we sure this is a classified woodlover?

All info I could find points to wayondensis also being a primary soil n secondary wood decomposer 🧐

Id be happy to be wrong in fact I'm hoping for it πŸ’€

I seen the outdoor pics though looks like woody compost xd 

Any pics of it fruiting on 100% woodchips in a jar with almost nothing else? I'ma go read through whole thread though curious if anyone else has pics of it fruited on a small handful of woodchips like I've seen ps cyanescens and azurescense do πŸ€”

I personally colonized a tiny amount of grains with caerulescens and then did a transfer to pasteurized birch woodchips in a quart jar.

Barely any grains went into it and it colonized the woodchips just fine I then spawned that quart jar to a 7qt tub with peat moss and vermiculite (potting soil probably would work like he used for outdoor) and in 2 weeks it fruited in the tub.

(All I'm saying is I was told caerulescens can't use the wood for nutrients to fruit it's using the grains and soil or peat moss/verm to fruit)

I know it isn't caerulescens though thinking it might be a soil lover too

Yeah dude I saw your pics! Great work. You are killing it man.

With the pics upload here, Idk what's the issue.
While creating a post I always have problems with uploading pics but if I go to the Pics tab first and use the upload button it always works for me. I then copy all of the code and proceed to make a post afterwards. Hope that helps. Or maybe it's a browser related issue?

Well spotted!

Room temperature is about 20Β°C,  down to 18 at night.
Was cased with potting soil straight from the bag a few weeks ago, dunked before that and kept in the automated tubs since. Did some spraying to keep the surface nice and wet in between.
