Agreed, would be great to hear how they've progressed over the years. I've seen many wild patches disappear never to return but am hoping Olive's remain.

Just started subs on agar from print direct from new Zealand I had to save this thread! It's exactly what I want to do. I've got Ps Subaeruginosa,Ps Cyanescens and Ps Azurescens colonizing. My plan is to spread them EVERYWHERE! Awesome thread Olive.

Glad I stumbled across this thread. Lots of subs in my local area and interesting to see how they're being cultivated.

bump for updates on your patches Olive? absolutely love your work dude, best info I've found on subs.
im starting an experiment patch: sub spores to agar -> agar to grain jars, and some hardwood chip jars. just trying to see what works, im going to pour spawn in a few different patches.
aged pine? so glad to find the answer i've been looking for hahaha i'll post some pics here if I have any success come fruiting season...

Posting to follow/find as im a newb everytime i try to read the newb forums about how to do stuff i get distracted.
So happy to find this thread... only just found out how hard it is to grow subs 😬 running to get the last stems i have onto cardboard now.
Iv got prints and been concentrating on getting my agar game up. But now I'm considering doing a trip to collect some natural habitat... it very late in the season too... was hoping to grow tubs indoors but i will adapt!!
Thanks to everyone from years who have posted this valuable info and hope some WA growers may continue on and i can find them 😆😆🦖🦖

I used to travel between perth and bunbury a fair bit. I often had some colonised material with me and used to bury it at certain spots along the way.I stopped having to travel a few years ago and didn't bother to check the spots.
By chance a guy i know through various forums stopped to take a leak and......low and behold he was pissing next to a sub. Then it all came back to him how i had mentioned i used to drop spawn at this very place.
This was 12 months ago and that shroom inspired my friend and I to spread the subbies around Perth metro.
I buried an egg cartons worth of colonised chips in souther suburbs park. UNderneath a tree with lots of leaf litter and organic matter. This year boom.......already got 2 little subs.
My friend started a patch a few years ago (also southern suburbs) and he gets a fair few subs every year. This year he found a lone sub 6metres from the original site he started.
Subs quite happy in perth if you find a suitable spot.
Easy method: Put stem butts in bottom of soaked egg cartons. Cover the buts lightly with soaked hard wood chips. I use smoking chips from bunnings (apple, cherry, hickory, alder) are all great. Keep adding more chips as it gets colonised. In winter search for nice spots (lots of leaf matter, old logs and stuff). Bury the egg carton and cover with the organic matter.
harder method: get a print and go to agar plate >> grains (corn is fine) >> hardwood smoking chips.
Trying this method now: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/7478182
So get out there fellas. Sub myc fucking rips in Perth if you find a nice spot.
We'll probably never have it as good as Melbourne with all our fucking sand but for sure you can have a couple of private spots in the perth metro.

I've had really good success transplanting crates of the colonized substrate from the picking grounds, putting it in a good shady place and feeding it with bluegum chips during the growth period. Plenty (5-6) of great flushes already this year and no need to risk the Gestapo down south.
