3 Odd tubs, help define the action plan
    #29659633 -

So I bought a bunch of new tubs because my old ones had bad holes (I used a heat gun to melt them without thinking of how it would deform) that were sized for 60L tubs, and I was having major mold issues so multiple contams in those. Still got great flushes from them in the past.

I get these 20L tubs for $5 , serve me well. Currently, I am testing running them unmodified, but I am finding it lackluster and some fruits are showing fuzzy feet, so screaming for more FAE.

I have three unmodified tubs with different scenarios, and would like to know what you would recommend. Yesterday I went ham on my shoeboxes Pasty's EZ dialed monotubs, although I probably put those holes too high.

I haven't added holes, right now the lids are flipped, but I don't think it is quite enough. Beyond the EZ dialing modification, what else should I do these?

I thought surface conditions looked good, maybe the drops are too big though? It really should be only the super tiny ones? If so big oops on my end, I saw the droplets on the surface mycelium and thought: oh nothing to do then.

Albino Country Cock on Straw 2 or 3 qt

This one is interesting because it is outputting some crazy blobs, while my other tubs of the same culture did more regular fruits. I think the ease of absorbing water from straw for a mushroom is why this is happening.

Below are two different tubs, one also unmodified and the same as the straw tub, but in coir, and another model of tub with 2 big FAE holes.

First times running these, not quite sure what to do about the blobs, how much time to give, etc.

Charlie Brown on Coir 2qt

This tub has been very slow, and it's probably the lack of FAE. As you can see, they are getting fuzzy feet. This one is straightforward, but if you have thoughts please let me know.

This culture I unfortunately cloned an early plin from an agar plate without testing. Unfortunately, that plin was actually a mutation, it almost looks like fish roe. Sometimes I get normal fruits, but this tub aint seeing it yet.

It's hard to see, but the surface is very covered with these grape like growths.

The mutation at hand

I am finally seeing some proper pins, but they are few. Should I scour the surface and punish it, or wait for a first flush even if meager?

Extra questions:

A- For those who punish your tubs, are you soaking as well? How long?

B- I only have a detachable showerhead in the shower, but I fear the bathroom might be a contamination vector. I suppose its more likely an indicator that my spawn isn't pristine. Still, would a handheld, pump based pressure sprayer be enough to do that?

Thank you in advance!

Surface droplets (as long as they stay spherical and definite) can be whatever size and it will be ok. Just as long as you can see them as individual droplets, and not pooling together, youve got good surface conditions.

For the albino country,I would say that straw tends to produce more bloby and cluster like mushrooms (like lions mane or oyster) as oppsed to individual dongs

For the Charlie Brown Tub, Along with the EZ dial holes, I would add tiny 1.5 mm holes along the middle of each of the sides of the tub for more FAE. 6 on the long sides and 3 on the short sides

I would give the pe x ghost more time

And for punishing, i just use a fork to rake the surface mycelium loose and free and spray it like 50 times with a spray bottle, or bottom water it by pouring water along the sides where the cake has shrunk

Cheers! I have noticed some pooling, but I think its where condensation falls from the lid or off the sides.

Despite good surface conditions, the slow CB and the fact that they are having fuzzy feet indicates there is something non optimal going on. Hopefully its a simple fix.
