And what's more, these companies all raised prices on us, because of the tariffs, and those prices will remain inflated.

I thought the point was to save manufacturing. The point of tariffs would be to make imports uncompetitive. Biden used it correctly, tariff'd Chinese EV's 100%, keeping them out of American markets for now, and keeping western automakers in business.

But it's not so effective at the arbitrary %'s Trump was using, on things that we already stopped manufacturing. Then people still buy the imports.

And technically automakers could still out-compete BYD at a 75% tariff, but since Biden extended their shield an extra 25%, they took the opportunity to raise their prices ~20% to maximize profit at the same competitiveness.

Sure would be simpler if the state owned production and didn't try to price gouge or move jobs overseas. Corporations were never going to take losses to move back here.

So tariffs raised prices, companies passed that on to consumers, and now that the tariffs have been ruled illegal, the companies get the tariff payments back.

Individuals can try to get the tariff refunds themselves but its an arduous process and anything not claimed through stringent processes goes back to the company.

So basically the burden is on individuals to keep all receipts and jump through loopholes to get a cent back, and anyone who didnt prepare and isnt prepared to jump through those hoops can suck it essentially.

Your forgetting the loopholes of owning a business and then committing tax fraud to get your money back from tariffs.

Refund right where sold for 23 cents on the dollar to Cantor Fitzgerald  (Howard Lutnick’s firm)  and the sons of Commerce Secretary  and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

edit: Not every company sold the refund rights obviously and there are other firms who bought the rights.
