You're most likely right, but I can't pull that off without getting pooling, with the humidifier that is, I will occasionally manually mist my casing. And yo, it's not like the humidity where I have my sensor(right next to the fan) in the dreamer will be the same as in the air pockets or 2mm above the surface, with evaporation from the casing happening I would bet the humidity 5mm above the surface is close to +95 anyway :awesomenod:

Lower humidity and manual watering is a good way to go. I think people get fixated on having everything fully automated but they're checking on their grow every ten minutes anyway. Just water your casing every tenth visit, no big deal.

Well the goal of a dreamer is not to check every 10 minutes. Its my first time using it so I want to dial things in right then let it ride

With pans the temperature is high and they don't like pooling so you might need to micro manage it, either by increasing the humidity on the humidifier and dial it back 12 hours later from time to time, or hand mist once or twice a day until you got your pinset.

And like I wrote, a lot of things will effect how the dreamer works. Let's use tray size and how much substrate you use as an example.

Some of the trays I've used have absolutely no walls after I have cased.

And then I have this big ass tray which leaves 7cm of side walls even after a casing.

When the humidifier turns on and fog comes rushing inside the dreamer it will impact these two trays very differently on the same setting. The fog will almost bounce of the casing on the first tray and fall to the bottom of the dreamer and I had to mist twice a day in order to stop it from drying out. The one with walls will trap fog and eventually soak the casing even at the same humidity level as the first and I will have to mist the caps ever so gently instead of increasing the % on the humidifier. Pans do not like sitting in water and a tray can rot in hours.

Exactly, and that is why, I monitor the casing, because that is just one thing. I can't be caught up in making a automated tub that monitors everything, I would have no time to actually grow mushrooms, I would need to go back to school and get a degree and whatnot, sounds aweful to be honest

Pasteurized my casing now. 155F water bath temp, start timer at 140f core temp using a godly wireless meat thermometer then 2 hours time.

Took only 3 days for FULL colonization of bulk substrate (ttbvi)

:nice:

How much spawn to how much substrate?

3 trays 1/3 and 1 tray with 2 qt of spawn so 1/1.5

Pan Cyan not Tropicalis. Whatever it is, it bangs. I have a bunch of these coming up, going to use em to dial in my CV+. This tub is a bit overnuted. I used the usual 10ml NPK + 20ml micronutes, but the canary seed seems to have pushed it over the edge.

What are the visible signs of over nutrition? Excessive pin set leading to smaller fruit or are their other signs?

You hit the nail on the head. I’m mainly looking at fruit size and canopy density. These trays side & bottom pinned like hell as well.

Here are a couple of ideal (imo) trays. I ran these pan “jambo” (also probs a cyan) on half the dose of CV+ and a mix of canary seed & rye. Same conditions, much bigger fruits.

Thanks man. I heard that canary seed was high nitrogen and also high tryptophan. Were you using it for nutritional profile or to try and leverage a higher alkaloid profile?

Any time. Nice to make your acquaintance. Canary seed seems to have a lot of everything in it lol. With pans I’m using it out of curiosity, as wheat is my preferred grain for these. I mainly started using it for zaps - they really seem to like it for some reason. Figured I may as well see how everything else likes it. Higher alkaloid profile would be cool, though.
