An interesting conversation I had last night...
    #2963664 - 08/04/04 11:58 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

So my fiancee's bestfriend has this new boyfriend and I met him for the first time last night. All 4 of us went to the bar and had a few beers. After a bit, the topic of religion came up because my fiancee was talking about the church we are going to get married at. Anyhow, this guy I just met tells me he has the answer about religion. I ask him what he meant and he goes on to tell me that everyone has religion all wrong and that people waste their lives worshiping gods that don't exisit. I was interested in what he had to say because I'm sort of an agnostic myself.

He tells me that there are several realities stacked on top of each other, 8 to be exact. I asked him why 8 and he tells me because that's the most effcient number... but he never elaborated on why it was efficient. Anyhow, he says that we spend eternity jumping from one reality to the next and it goes in a circle. In 8 lifetimes, we'll be back in the reality we are now. So anyhow, this system, or cycle never loses energy... it always recycles the energy it has. If some one dies in the reality that preceeds us, someone is born in the reality we have now and if someone dies in this reality they are born in the next reality. So I ask him if the energy in the "system" is constant, why is are population continuously growing. He tells me that this reality is continoulsy growing in population because the reality that lies before us is suffering from terribal famine and war. Basically it just went through an apocolypse. So I ask him how many people are there in this "level of realities" thing. He says 24 billion. I say why 24 billion? He says because it's devisivibal by 8. Now I'm starting to think this guy is whacky, but am still interested in what he has to say. So I say our reality has over 6 billion people and the reality before us has far fewer because the reality that's before is going through hard times... so what about the other realities? If the energy remains constant, wouldn't things level out at 8 millions and stay that way? At this point I was getting drunk and it was hard to pay any attention to his off the wall remarks.

Basically, in a nut shell, there are 8 realities. We pass through one reality to the next through death. The white light that is reported being seen upon death is the person traveling down the birth canal to the next reality.

Pretty odd, huh?

Anyone who claims to have the answer doesn't have it.

Also, it shows his aptitude in that he criticizes religion. Religion has led to a lot of horrible things, but it has also been at utmost source of love and goodwill. It has been a source of spirituality and magic. That guy is grasping for straws in my opinion.

Can't be real of course, just think of it. The population figure on earth is growing at a regular pace (I don't exactly know if the progression is exponential, geometric or arithmetic or whatever, but it IS regular, it can be described quite accurately by a mathematical function). In the case of war, for instance, the progression of the death rate would be much more chaotic. It depends on the level of sophistication of the war, the technical advancement of that particular world, but even a quite primitive war would display peaks and troughs in death rates, it wouldn't be as regular.
This would especially be the case with natural disasters, but then, he didn't mention those. Think of it, however: a huge disaster in one reality means a huge and very sudden baby boom in the next. I'm not talking about a post-WWII-like baby boom, spread over more than a decade, but of a mass instant baby boom: millions of women getting pregnant within a few hours. So disaster in one reality breeds delayed disaster in the next.

I... kind of doubt it...

why do most humans always assume that diffrent realeties happen becouse of living things?
why not say there's a diffrent realety for every electron/smallest partical there is?
