I would do one quart per tray (max).

Anywhere from 1-4" is fine.  But I usually go with around 2".  As more depth is kind of a waste, unless I have a bunch of extra substrate prepped that I want to use up.

Beyond that I don't really measure.  I just kind of eyeball it.

IMHO, one of really good container roughly 2  3/4 inch tall Large Size 10” W x 13 3/4”L  costs 3-4 bucks in dollar tree

Thank you for all the information. Next rounds i will do much better growing conditions and add the recommended casing layer. Also i use black cow manure from a bag, and i'm not so sure about it. I hope the grows will be better, time will tell.

Also i do have a Hawaiian copelandia print (or whats left of it) it's over one year old( kept mostly in fridge) but it performed bad on agar then so i did not continue with it at that time.

This is how the fruits look today(from another angle) the tallest are about 2.4 inches. Are they ready and will they be potent?

Oh those look beautiful!  Lots of spores in those gills too

Up to you if you want to harvest them now or wait until the end of the day, with panaeolus the spores don't all mature at the same time.

And yeah I imagine they will be strong.  Generally 2-4% alkaloids for all Copelandia.

So no inbred? I'm happy to hear the look sexy and have spores. Put lots of work in that bvi spore print already. Will eat something this weekend to test potency:wink:

Domestic mushrooms usually are inbred 🤷‍♀️  Especially popular varieties.  It's one of the reasons why outcrossing is nice.  It often reinvigorates the genetics.

But the culture you isolated does not appear to be showing signs of inbreeding depression.  And that's the important part ☺️

Do you guys add a thin top layer of coir when you mix your substrate for pans to not have exposed grains or its just a useless step

I often like to add a thin layer of substrate.  It means I can use less casing later and let the colony consolidate a bit before casing.

But I don't always do that, because I don't always remember to set aside substrate.

I wouldn't put much weight (or thought) on a thin layer with pans, do it, or don't it won't make or break anything. I personally don't, my area is dry AF so a casing layer is mandatory anyway.  I've wanted to try no casing, I wouldn't mind in the indoor GH, but tubs, yeah that would be tough for me.  All good, enjoying the basics of figuring out what they need, and not what I want to give them.

Probably the best caps thus far (picked 12 last night with beautiful pileus formation, on the dry side, but it be what it be ), culture 4 is definitely the one, and 12 qts with 1/16th holes (PE/TaT tubs) and offset lids... MAKE it happen Captain!

I'm over there opinion actually that no casing, at least with cyans, is more feasible in a tub.

The fans in a tent or autotub is one of the things that a casing really helps the colony protect against.

Other species I'm not so sure about, because I have never seen them side pin.  So it's quite possible that something about the casing layer is important.  Either the pH shift, lower nutrients, or the microbes.

And I don't think you will get fruits like I'm looking for in a tub and no casing.  These last fruits from the 2nd flush 12qts, were monsters, I figured out the max (dry) air, then dialed it down a bit, but it's a thin casing anyway, and worth doing in my opinion.  I know manure is shitty, but... it's my go to right next to CV.  I'm actually going to take the straight straw plunge (2 jars ready soon), I have an obscene amount right now just bought a new bale for gardening, last one lasted a good 5 years or more, but I've only grown Avery A on straw only, did well first flush, but 2nd was noticeably less dense of fruits.  Regardless, I was happy with it.  Currently out of Manure, or I would do a combo of both, it's a preference thing, and what I'm used to.  I used to get people asking, why you using manure for cubes, it's as simple as... I don't mind pasteurizing (stigma it's difficult, it just isn't) and it's my fantasy world; I do what I want.

Anyway, enjoy the day, your name reminds me of being a kid, spraying the neighbors shutters down to catch tree frogs.  Appreciatchu' fungus friend, for the memories from within.

No camera trickery here, it's a digital POS from 2010... air is your friend.

Oh the manure is shitty thing was a pun.  I just live in the city, so it's less accessible and harder to age well.

And yeah I agree a casing is beneficial either way.  Just cyans will grow without it.

And thank you for sharing the story about the frogs

I used to catch tadpoles as a kid, and I think my first real cultural shock was when older kids told me that we 'get to' cut them up in school.

So yeah, they are my spirit animal.  My heart.  And unfortunately I haven't really heard them sing much this summer

I can dig it, the manure is shitty pun made me laugh, some of my best work is manure based without a doubt.  I am a dirt maker/composter for a long time, and I do believe in the microorganisms, cannabis cultivator as well, with recycled soil over and over and those compost piles are ALIVE. My Euro worm bins are great for castings and grabbing a few for live bait if needed. I prefer lures, but you can never have too much diversity in that world as well.

The 12's and 6 quarts are H Manure/Coco/Verm/Oyster Shell Flour/a touch of WC and screened outdoor compost at a 1/4 inch.  I think I did a half cup each for the castings and compost, nothing too crazy for a 528g brick of Coco. 30% ish manure percent, nothing exact and Verm to my liking.  Free tip of the day... Weigh your bricks, they aren't all created equally... at 650 geez

I grew up next to a levee and would catch crawdads for bait to catch cat fish, carp, blue gills, next to the overpass bridge was a gully and every spring water would be trapped and tree frog central (I know the singing).  I used to catch lizards, shit, anything I could get my hands on, then let it go once I had my fun.

I think it was Junior HS that we did a worm dissection, maybe a sheep heart, but yeah, frogs on that list too.  Makes me think of going to the levee a few times with guys who liked to frog gig big ass bull frogs that splash the water like a muskrat.  I'm like a gold miner right now just dredging up the past, memory triggers from the grass... thank you tree frog... hopefully they sing for you... "One More Time" RIP Allen Collins and crew!

Fired back up a jcm.  Might do another one too.  Missed it

Throttled WAY down on the bubbler and added a handful of 1/4” holes below sub surface level.  Bubbler goes on for 1 min and 20 mins off.  Box fan goes on for 3 mins every 2 hours.  Rh sits at 92-93% (never goes above 95 even when the bubbler runs—got really lucky guessin those times) and drops to 80% when the fan goes on.

Kloakk im reading the dreamer tub thread and saw you used the RH sensor to control the misting on and off. Do you still use it or went on a timer like some others?

If you still use the RH to control it any advice on where to start for like the pinning stage? What kind of rh % to set and what rh differential to start back on? Its first time ill use the dreamer so would be nice to just have a start and ill dial things myself after.

I got the T5 cloudforge humidifier with the controller.

This is what my setup looks like

Its a pretty big 105 qt tub

I plan on running both fan on the lowest setting always. They are also a bit lower to circulate the air under the trays for the seed heating pad.
