If you have an "alive" compost pile, it will devour that dung without hesitation very quickly.  The pile may heat up again (depending on the amount added), but the worms and everything else breaking down organic matter will move away from the heat source so no issues. I throw everything in my piles, old blocks, mushroom subs, veggie waste (with napkins and paper towels), you name it (starts every year from lawn clippings and leaves mainly), nothing gets wasted and the gardens love it... I added a bit of outdoor compost and WC to a few of the subs (manure too), no problem and ripped right through it. I spawned a 66 qt Mono for old times' sake on the 30th, but it's CV+ and definitely slower, but still killing for 5 days in, and I don't mind them being a little slower to stall fruiting since I have plenty going on right now.  Anyway, hope yawl didn't go to hard on the 4th, be well and SAFE!

It will turn into thermal, then the worms will come in, sometimes even BSF larvae, they may look like a black wasp at a glance, but they are docile and not pests like house flies.  They devour waste like you wouldn't believe.  I personally, break down my waste with LABS in a 5 gal bucket, speeds up the decomposition process, and off to the pile it goes.  Nature will provide us with everything we need and the plethora of organisms... well that is the GOLD! Eat your hearts out Cannabis Consumers!

Never used millet, I do use the flash prep with canary seeds and there's always a couple of burst seeds, but a lot less then when I try to boil.

More so in the casing, where I've seen substantial changes in pin initiation, especially in the grass loving pans such as bisporus and mystery sa.  Hence all my grass photos.  It's likely the microbes that live on grass riots rather than the plants themselves.



But unlike agaricus, cyans at least will fruit from sterilized substrate and casing.

I've used a lot of black kow.  Which is composted cow manure.

Additionally, straw/manure is one of the better substrates.

That said, they do utilize nitrogen to digest sugars.  The ratio is about 1:30 (1g of available nitrogen to 30g of available carbon).

But, there's some nitrogen in grain.  Though the exact ratio varies depending on the grain.  And I have fruited pans off popcorn using a casing supplemented with worm castings.

Here's some more data for monotubs. I harvested a few measly fruits from this tray late last week and then went out of town for the weekend. When I left town Friday morning, the surface was completely bare, no signs of any knots or pins. I gave it a heavy misting and half-taped the top and bottom holes right before heading out the door. T-stat was set to 78 and this tub is on the top floor so it was probably 80 or 81 degrees the whole time. Came home to this last night.




I guess "leave it the fuck alone" can apply to Pan Cyan too. :shrug:

The only areas that didn't fruit were right by the holes where the surface completely dried out. I want to harvest these fruits and then move the tray to one of my heated water fruiting chamber, but at the same time I feel like I shouldn't mess with a good thing. Decisions decisions.

Split jar experiment.  So a fairly low spawn ratio.  'Not trop' cyan/cambo.

Third flush homemade bioflower (peat, coir, calcium carbonate, perlite, biochar and mojave's nutes).  Pinned very quickly but also first and second flush yield wasn't great due to side pins.




Second flush CV+.  Much better coverage first and second flush.  But smaller fruit bodies then the third flush bioflower.  It also contaminated which is interesting as it was the same jar.



My impression of the bioflower is that it is better, assuming I can reduce side pins.  Since I try to avoid single-use plastics such as liners, I am trying compression and colonizing in the dark to encourage top fruiting.  Hoping the colony will prefer the top if I reduce air pockets and don't have early light shining through the sides of the clear tubs.

This second round doesn't have a control, but I did case two trays today. And both had a much higher grain ratio.

I had some success with compression lightly n evenly n growing in tubs putting a towel over em for warmth n also blocked the light (second flush still got side pins). (For cubes) Gonna try pan tubs soon n also trayz

Pan bispo - “WA”. Substrate is a bit nutrient poor. Just pasteurized coir and straw… pretty sad flush but I think I’ll have enough for an experience. I’ve wanted to try bispo’s for a long time.

Tub growers, working out the kinks in my dry AF area.  All good, just looking for some developed caps for fresh prints, maybe a clone, for the 3-disc HoH runs eventually.  But um, yeah I had to syringe water the casing last night, not looking to blast my caps to get the casing to where I want it.  Was a tad wetter than I would like, but I'm also running big gaps too right now for air.  Anyway, appreciate the passive tubs, brings me back to peacefrogs work, wherever you are Sir... hope all is well in your world.  In my feelings a bit today, tubs get me excited for the possibilities, I already know they will kill it with a fogger.  I am trying to be patient, but it's wearing thin, I had zero patience when I was younger, move forward mentality and don't look back.  Thank you Pan growers, ran across a Blue Helix doc on my old cpu, RIP your work WILL live ON!

 



Nothing special about the pinset, but responded very well to the syringe watering, new pins, spurt of growth, just testing the waters so to speak.  Yawl keep them subs and tubs away from the mean green machine.  All the BEST!




Peace River

Old print to agar, 4 selections of the tiniest piece of myc to jelly jars of WBS.  Kept 2 of the 4 selections, very fast, 5 days to knots (manure based), pins in 6-7 from spawn.  Anyway, G2G (7-8 days) the jelly jars, and 3 agar drops (under 2 weeks), kept 6/7 quarts of WBS. Went crazy with the spawn, the trays above are like 1-6 spawn ratio, very low, so could affect the tub, but it's all good, just enjoying the process getting reacquainted.

And honestly once they are that size I don't worry too much about over watering the casing.  I even like to rinse the casing off in the sink with the sprayer between flushes.  To both rehydrate it and remove debris.

Well dialed in moisture I think is most important for the initial knots.  I.e. surface conditions.  Once those are done, and aside from wetness potentially causing blotch, they can tolerate a lot of moisture in my experience.

Here's one I sprayed off this morning.  It's soaked!  But it will balance out over the next few days, and it will keep pinning in the meantime as long as it has nutrients.

The casing looked perfect the next morning, definitely easier to really soak the entire casing and revive them with a syringe and blunt tip (or however you get there).  The fruits ABSOLUTELY loved it no doubt.  The tubs are getting plenty of air, so I wasn't too worried about slight oversaturation at this stage either.  I jumped back in the game with Ochras, enjoyed those, but nothing like growing PANS!

Hell yeah, COPEs are a challenge to dial in, I'm ALL IN!!
