Desicant chamber for hiding question

I know, I know I should use a dehydrator and it is a million times better and more efficient and the best.

I own one but the problem is I am in my dorm rn and i need to get ready for my first flush but the problem is i cannot use my dehydrator because it makes so much noise and my dorm room is minuscule. Also i cant use the kitchen because it will stress me out to no end i don't want to go to jail.:eek:

My question isn't whether this is the best solution, it is whether it will work at all or i am completely wasting my time and it will rot inside.

I want to put my flush straight in this chamber, no fanning for the same reason as before. Maybe i can let them absorb some water on a paper towel before but that is it.

In photo: a small plastic tote with 6 200 grams desicant packets raised on some plastic from the desicant packs. Above there are 2 layers of toilet paper.


I plan to cut up the mushrooms when the time comes and spread them as thinly and evenly as possible on the surface. I am ok with little potency/not the prettiest or tastiest mushrooms as long as they fulfill their purpose.

Any tips/am i a total dumbass?

Also worth mentioning that my flush will be around the 300 grams wet (using shoeboxes).

I don’t have experience with this specifically but I feel like hypothetically it should work… I would just make sure they are well hidden in your closet or under your bed behind some dirty clothes.  And obviously don’t fucking tell ANYONE.

I might double up on the amount you’re using though… 300 grams is almost a pound.

Yep, the stealth is my main scope of this whole thing.

If i can t get more desiccant(i have tons of exams and so busy af) would you say that it would be more productive to dry only half the shrooms in the chamber to not risk compromising the whole thing?

300 g WET is gonna be about an ounce dry.

Yes, desiccant drying will work. Various forms of air-drying and desiccant drying were very common for a long time. It's not ideal for full moisture removal and long-term storage, and I always used to get the stomach willies a bit when I ate stuff prepared that way. I thought it was just part of the experience until I started growing my own and drying them fully.

And, yeah, you should expect some potency degradation over time.

I would, however, try to get through it relatively quickly. And maybe when you're at the tail end and going through the stuff that's sat around the longest, go with making tea to cut down on potential stomach issues.

Honestly, it sounds like kind of a fraught situation you're trying to grow in. Have you considered doing something like PF tek and maybe just having a couple cakes at a time? Even easier to hide, and if your harvests are small enough, you can just eat them fresh. Or at least not have stuff sitting around for very long.

I know the kitchen situation is sketchy, but I have to mention two other things:

1. You could just do a tea/hot water extraction on the fresh fruit, then freeze it into ice cubes.

2. Probably a good idea to recharge the desiccant in an oven as often as you can.

Wow, do you have a link for the tea extraction and freezing that you're talking about? Sounds very interesting.

The desicant solution is just temporary. Later, in about a month, i will probably dry them in a proper dehydrator to make them last.

I ve done pf tek but spawned it to bulk. The whole thing i did was sketch as fuck (I won't go into detail but i ve transported caked for hundreds of km and did all behind my gf and parents backs), still managed to get here somehow lol. Just frustrating as things moved quicker than expected and my college roommate will be still here by the time i need to harvest. (plan was to do the drying in the summer break)

Right on, yeah, I was mainly just thinking about how little space a few PF cakes can take up. It really is the sort of thing you could hide in plain sight, or just plain hide.

There's a ton of stuff out there about teas and extracts, but ReverendMyc has done some great work in this thread:

Definitely enough there to make your head spin, but also hopefully come up with your own protocol, too.

The last couple times I've made a tea, I used my metal french press. And it was with dried material. Did two rounds of extraction with boiling water. Let the water cool down for like 20 seconds after the after the kettle boiled, and I think I did like a 15 minute steep for each round. The concoctions I made with it kept well in the freezer, though you could definitely notice a decline in potency and the flavor going off after about a week or so of being thawed out.

But I've made tea from fresh material before, too, and just made ice cubes with it. They worked great. As long as it stays frozen, you're gonna pretty much preserve whatever you extracted.

But yeah, if you poke around with the search engine, there's probably more on this topic than you ever wanted to know. I just couldn't tell you exactly where all the good/relevant info is, because at this point I'm kinda just doing this sort of stuff on autopilot based on stuff I read and forgot years ago lol

It occurs to me that you could buy a small to medium sized safe and just hide your desiccant box inside the safe.

Not worth the stress and potential bad times. I believe dorms have no right to privacy and can be searched at any time for any reason. Just buy your shrooms while you're in college or rent a little studio apartment.

shrooms are IMPOSSIBLE to buy where i am, also i am paranoid about laced shit; thing is i have a long ass engineering major of 5 years and don't have a clue about how soon i ll be able to afford my own place. Gotta risk it but i am as careful as humanly possible.

Honestly, the shrooms will be waiting for you when you are ready for them. You have the rest of your life to trip, you don't need to rush into it but the choice is yours naturally. Best of luck whatever you decide.

As others said: Don't. Not worth the potential life changing troubles. And I don't think any of it will be the truly joyful experience it should be. If you think you can not wait: Get a part time job and save money for a holiday ...uuuhm.. "trip" in a more relaxed country in that sense.

There is no scenario where any of this is not incredibly stupid.  Don’t potentially blow up years and years of school for a high.  Just wait until you have your own place, are out of school, or both. 

Right now what you are doing is risking a lucrative and stable engineering career for a cheap high.  Stop it.

If you’re in the US you will be extra fucked if you get caught manufacturing narcotics in school while receiving loans. 

Also no one laces shrooms, that’s ridiculous.  Drugs are a business, why would someone charge the same amount and take a hit by adding free drugs?  I know more people who have been struck by lightning than people who have had laced shrooms.  For the record that is 2/0.

i live in whoop whoop nowhere Romania, also the room inspections are basically nonexistent here and i haven't told anybody. I must admit, this is still stupid af and irresponsible and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Worst case scenario I'll have a random complete room inspection that hasn't happened to anyone.

Also the black market here is wild, you can't find shrooms at all and ALL the weed is laced. The psychedelic culture is just missing here totally. Next best thing would be to buy acid online but i feel like that would actually be more risky than what i am doing.

Also, whatever you choose to do, just be really cautious. The other members are correct in advising to not fuck up a good thing. Youth is awesome, but let’s just say I have several regrets. :lol:

Just wait until you are out of school, a high isn't worth losing it all.  Can't think of a worse place to try and keep a secret than in a dorm.

Exactly, why grow mushrooms to relieve stress if it's going to wreck your brain with paranoia?  You're in school for engineering, burn up that brain designing a world that helps everyone.  Then when you're out on your own use all that knowledge to build yourself the slickest mushroom lab ever.  We will still be here ready to help when that day arrives :sporedrop:
