This week it was a thrombosed hemorrhoid. HIGHLY recommend against the experience. Woke up and it felt like my butthole had been shredded with a rolling pin covered in fish hooks. This lasted 3 days before any relief or improvement.

For real though, Chiron, I said โ€œwith all due respectโ€ because Iโ€™m really not trying to be rude. This is something new people do; they get excited about the Big Breakthrough and want to share it not knowing itโ€™s old or incorrect information.

Above all else, even the jokes, Iโ€™m just trying to make sure people have HELP and that the help is practical and applicable.

i do appreciate the fact he was willing to ship me the dehydrator.

The point is, why is he opposing me for no reason? i agreed with him, helped the guy, he picked everything i said, distorted backwards said i shouldn't comment anymore and appealed to authority.

You appealing to authority is also not cool, and you can lock the thread if you want or teach me how to do it, my question already got answered.

and as i said, don't care if he is more experienced, only if what he says makes sense or not, even though in this specific comment i was even agreeing with him.

and using capsules is no big breakthrough.

Woah, this post keeps on giving.

A thrombosed hemorrhoid, so.. no butt stuff for a while?

Maybe we should donate some spore or cultures instead, I would love to see that post.

Bummer about the hemorrhoid. Ive installed those toilet seat bidets for people that can help.

Hob has me pegged for sure. (that was not on purpose) I am the fresh new guy with silly ideas. I joined this site and read mushboys giant tea thread. My first thoughts were i need to try cold brew because maybe it preserves some of the tryptamines.

I do think new people have an alertness and desire to learn and the ability to see things without any bad habits developed. Like learning a new language or skill its best to be a total clean slate.

Regarding capsules i was curious and looked up whats considered best for blocking oxygen and it was pullulan over gelatin or hpmc. According to chat. I use chat almost daily for work and notice it make mistakes often. For me its just one way to try to learn.

Chiron, you've said a lot of stuff that I agree with and demonstrated an ability to think critically about this subject, but you've also made some absolute statements about what people should do. After indicating that you don't have a ton of experience with some of the things you're talking about. I'm pretty sure that's all Hob meant.

Please remember that a couple pages back, you were lecturing us about how we can't KNOW anything about potency based on decades of cultivation and consumption experience. Honestly, there's just something about the way you're approaching this conversation that allows me to laugh stuff like that off and move forward with this conversation, because in most cases I'd just ignore someone who made such an absolute statement about what I know. "With all due respect, you're not really in a position to make recommendations" is pretty mild by comparison.

I myself try to avoid making direct recommendations. I try to explain what I do and why, the sort of journey that most cultivators end up on, and the mechanics behind different techniques. Do you know about UBtek? I hate it. I still don't tell people not to do it. Instead, I talk about why I hate it. I want people to make up their own minds about what they're gonna do, learn from their mistakes, etc. I don't think handholding and absolute rules work very well in the realm of cultivation.

Hob, I've had similar issues the past couple weeks. Blood on the towel after taking a shower, that sort of thing. It's a challenging time of year in the northern hemisphere, and we all need to stay on top of our hydration regimes.

On the subject of powder vs. whole fruit:

Chiron, I can see what you're saying about powder taking up less space and therefore having less voids in the middle of it, I think you have to balance that against the increased surface area. As Hob said, it won't matter much as long as everything is stored in the absence of moisture, light, and oxygen.

My way of addressing this issue is as follows: I stuff shredded fruit into jars, busting it up in the process. So it's not powdered yet, but the amount of air space is reduced because the fruit is all busted up and jam-packed into the jar. I grind, homogenize, and split into batches when I'm ready to work with the material, and most of it gets turned into chocolates. Once the powder is mixed into the chocolate matrix, it's pretty well protected from degradation, and chocolates will keep indefinitely in the freezer. And do just fine for a long time in the fridge or cupboard. I prefer to grind just before pouring chocolates, but I don't sweat it if at all if the powder ends up sitting for a few months.

Get your fiber and wash your ass every day, no problems for a few years. Shall we make this the cultivation hemorrhoid support thread?

I'm not really convinced on the air fryer vs dehydrator thing yet. Maybe we should circle back to that first

We are interested on science results.
But honestly just for our knowledge.
We did once cared about potential potency loss... At the beginning.
And ended up with a shitload of mushies, way more than we and friends combined could ever eat so why bother too much.

Ate 3g of mediocre cubes, poorly stored for three years, my jaw was hanging down for 4 hours strait.

Always have dried at 70ยฐC for 24h, store in jars with a desiccant if have one, or without. Never seen more than 20-30% loss, just eat more and I m done.

I know useless comment at this stage of the thread but why not :hatsoff:

Even the OP, in asking the question, admitted that an airfryer is a rather "meh" option.

But will it work, if necessary? Prolly, yeah. Will it be better than some jury-rigged air drying setup? Prolly, yeah.

On the other hand:

Will it become a pain in the ass when you have a mountain of fruits to get through and one dumb little fryer basket to work with? Almost certainly.

If I were in this situation, I'd probably try to use the airfryer, or make tea fron fresh material and freeze it, and then <redacted> to raise enough <redacted> to deal with the whole customs situation.

but i didn't make any absolute statements. just shared my logic and some data to corroborate what I'm saying.

and about the capsules, i simply made some standard recommendations, nothing more. i just think silica is "mandatory" because it is easy, cheap and the most useful, blocking light also, but light is very easy to block anyway, just put the jar on a drawer or something. the argon or oxygen absorber is really non practical, but if the person wants something "optimized", is an option.

my point about the "not knowing", is that with experience alone you can't know things for sure, just at most, have some intuition, or indication that "this might work", but is only that, a intuition, not some absolute, measured, unbiased information.

because of the decreased interstitial air that powder has, it has less air inside the jar.

the logic is, the oxygen in the headspace will probably oxidize only like some millimeters from the "block" of powder in the jar, acting like a "sacrificial layer" leaving the entire block with barely any oxidation.

putting in chocolate is good, but takes away the "homogeneous" part and you don't know how to control it for precise dosages. but is good if you don't care about it.

and i have to disagree with you saying that it doesn't matter much. in the HPLC data i have shown, capsules lost much less. the PE single fruit sample lost more than 50%, meanwhile capsules lost 0,54%. the PE sample lost 93x more. saying is not significant at this point is simple false in my opinion, as the difference is extremely high.

of course, the PE single fruit sample will still works and get you high, but half as potent because of sloppy storage, that could be easily solved with barely any effort. and that's what i was talking about. the data helps to understand how things work and how to apply in real life, and doing capsules or the method i talked (making a block with powder) is not hard, and can offer a ton of benefits. thus, low effort high reward. ignoring data sometimes is not a practice that i find smart or productive, even if it "works" in practice.

"I didn't make any absolute statements"

Proceeds to make MORE absolute statements, yet again directed at my own practices and experiences based on a hypothetical argument.

OK, buddy. You're nice enough, but you sure do love to argue for argument's sake. There's plenty I could say to rebut the latest wall of text, but there's not much point as you obviously don't like to concede anything. Even when I'm in agreement with what you said, that just makes for tiresome conversations. For some reason, I thought we could wean you off the habit, but that's obviously not the case. I'm putting you on ignore now, and abandoning this thread.

For the record, though, you're dead wrong about the chocolate thing. With the right ratio and adequate mixing, it is absolutely possible to make consistent doses. Unless I've dreamed the past 10 years of my life, and really just been tripping on on DMT in a Sao Paulo highrise.
