Re: Why is air fryer not better than dehydrator? [Re: letstakeatrip]
    #29583733 -

I think people are projecting a lot of emotion and conflict into this thread that just isn't there on my side of the discussion. How do you think scientific debates usually happen? Both sides explain their position with the help of scientific evidence that supports what they're saying and then both sides take turns to find flaws in the evidence, reasoning and thinking of the other. Why would mods have to step in? This is how it's done. I haven't personally attacked anyone. I've attacked the statement that heat doesn't degrade potency because as I hope I've proved to people reading this thread, that statement is false and the potency of peoples fruits is suffering for it.

I've been personally attacked and people in this thread have tried to shut me down and censor mycological knowledge but that's like water off a ducks back to me. When people attack the person rather than the evidence it means they're losing the debate.

Some people have great difficulty taking in new information that conflicts with their previously held beliefs and that's OK. Like I said, it's easy to test for yourself at home, I'm not saying don't use a dehydrator, I'm not trying to make air drying compulsory or change any rule books, I'm just providing vital missing information that people need to make an informed decision about their drying method.

Who would have thought that helping people increase the potency of their fruits, teas and extractions would be so difficult and controversial in a community like this?

Hey for thr record I never attacked you i just thought you should start your own thread and maybe cool it on the "everybody but me is stupid" attitude. Little late for that now. I actually thought i could help you make your dissicant packs a little cleaner.

Im not going to pretend to understand at all the conversation thats happened in terms of chemistry, but it sounds like deydrator settings are something we should maybe talk about.  Rev has done more potency testing than any man alive, and I guess Ive always felt that if an alarm bell needed to be rang, he would have rang it by now.

I guess i find this whole shit show silly though, when a mere pinch of the stuff i blasted at 140 for a day with my nesco will send me into the fantasia dimension for the day. Am i really missing out on something? How many kilos have I seen dried this way with similar testimonies?

Like, what the fuck are we actually talking about here? Wheres rev? If theres a point this is all traveling towards, i just pray to god that we get there soon.

Nevermind.  I found the tea thread where youre basically making the exact same argument against rev.  Good god man.  I gotta agree with rev at this point, you seem to be arguing for the sake of arguing.  You seem to have tied yourself so closely to your opinions that you perceive any attack on them as an attack on you, personally.

Bud.  Give it a rest, or for the love of god, start your own thread and contain this shit show.

The Rev proved that heat degrades potency the other day in his latest experiment as I've previously mentioned in this thread. He made an extraction and evaporated one sample in a vacuum chamber without heat and the other in a vacuum chamber with heat which resulted in a 20% loss of potency in the extract that had been heated.

Just like all the research on temperature and potency predicted.

Do you have peer reviewed papers showing nose holding’s effect on degradation of alkaloids?

some comments ago you said:

"And no amount of subjective "well these still slap" anecdotal experiences is going to change that."

now you are saying:

"it's easy to test for yourself at home"

lol.

and like i said, if you are gonna experiment it short term, the low temperature air drying will maybe FEEL(this word is the key, is just a feel)more potent, because it has more psilocin. thus the trip would come faster and peak faster, and the person will think the shroom hits harder or preserved more alkaloids, even though this is not true. is the same logic that people say lemon tek does, you put a shroom in lemon juice, the lemon transform psilocybin into psilocin, and that way the trip FEELS more potent, even if the shroom don't changed his amount of alkaloids.

Weak acids like lemon juice don't convert psilocybin into psilocin. They make the alkaloids more soluble and stable in solution.

"These still slap" isn't an experiment. Trying low and high temperature fruits at home and seeing if you can tell the difference is an experiment.

Do elevated temperature dried fruits still work? Yes.

Are they less potent and have a shorter shelf life compared to low temperature dried fruits? Also yes.

i said "is the same way PEOPLE SAY lemon tek works". I've never claimed anything.

trying both is still anecdotal experience lol. only real testing would be truly definitive.

and like i said, the person would feel that the trip is stronger in low temp air drying, but is because it has more psilocin than psilocybin.

also, shrooms from the same flush can vary about 4x in potency.

thus no, is not reliable.

Potency discussions always feel like "My anime character could beat up your anime character" because, at the end of the day, 3.5g of APE is going to stick its veiny cock into your brain and blow a load in there regardless.

It's literally such a non-issue that if you follow the "established tek" on drying temp and time you're going to have perfectly potent fruits that perform just fine.

Goku and One Punch Man don't need you to stand up for them. You're getting your ass kicked either way. Want more potency? Eat pans.

is good to discuss for long term storage. I for example will do dry shroom powder, that people generally says loses ton of potency in long term storage(even though I've seen some data contradicting this, but not the point right now). thus if i lose a bit in dehydration, a bit in storage, a bit because of genetics, a bit because of my technique, a bit because of bla bla bla, it means that at the end i will end with like 50% less than i should.

is good to know some consensus as using heated air is not that much harder than using low temperature air.

also, some genetics can maybe be harder to find in some countries, or harder to cultivate like penis envy. the "eat more" advice is good, but is also good to know how to preserve what you already have. thus i don't find it to be a useless debate, is just that it need to be properly discussed instead of just goofy debates.

another thing is that a lot of people is interested in shrooms for therapeutical reasons. this means that generally this "eat more" advice can maybe be bad, because you don't want to use extremely higher or lower dosages.
