Surprised you guys and gals arent more interested in the subject matter though. Ive been forming some wild ideas and tests people could do. Would do them myself but ive never even seen a fresh mushroom in person. I do have a very high desire to make the most potent tea possible. Also interested in long term storage. I think there is something going on with the relationship between heat and enzymes and polymorphic states. People have such inconsistent results making gummies. Or the gummies come out strong but lose potency rapidly. I wonder if those gummies were accidently made with a less stable polymorph configuration. I dont know the correct terminology. Just barely learned about it. I did watch the VR video in the Top Tea thread where the scientists where using their hands and manipulating the molecule. Not sure if a dehydrator or oven or boiling water is even able to create the different polymorphs. Something is definitely not consistent though. I feel like those enzymes you guys keep talking about can be very fast acting. As if all the psilocybin can be converted withing seconds to psilocin. I plan to get the Qtest setup with the photometer. But it wont answer any of the conversion questions. Like the OP has mentioned when it comes to long term storage you hope to maintain the psilocybin form. I was hoping to copy the Rev dehydrated tea crystals soon. But im a little worried about water extraction. So far so good though as im following along and see the tests of crystals sitting there on the desk in the light and everything. Very grateful for Revs time and money doing that.

Regarding dehydrating temps i wonder if midrange temp can be worse for the enzyme window. Either keep it super low. Or purposely blast it to where the enzyme stops as i think might happen with boiling water. I dont think the dehydrator gets close to boiling water temp though. So it might always fall into the midrange temp. But its possible the dehydrator hottest setting is better than its middle temp setting. With potency then increasing again towards room temp setting with heating element disconnected.

I'm very interested in the middle ground of best preservation of potency and convenience

I guess the main reason is that this isn’t a problem to solve? We’ve been dehydrating mushrooms for decades and it’s pretty conclusive that you’re not losing anything impactful from using a dehydrator for 24 hours. It’s just not something 99.9% of growers need to concern themselves with 🤷‍♂️

stop saying things out of your ass, lol. nobody knows if this is relevant or not because there's no outcome data for this. also, if someone do something wrong his whole life, he has no "right" to compare to. if the comparison don't exist, nobody knows how relevant it is.

It works and its consistent. Maybe the 0.01% of growers doing competitions use drying temps as a secret weapon. Start high then finish low. Or air dry mostly then finish with low heat dehydrator like Dave posted. I hope to one day be in the position to dehydrate my own batch of shroom. Would most likely do 165F for known consistent good results to start.

midrange is the worse for sure, don't achieve nothing. because of "evaporative cooling" the core of the shroom gets to 40C for example, that is the perfect temperature to actually increase enzymatic reaction. thus you should use the highest temps, like 80-90C, maybe even 100C, but i don't recommend it because of the own equipment variance in temperature. you don't want to surpass 100C, as there's no added benefit to do so.

if you will try, you also need to cut in half lengthwise, because of "case hardening", that the shroom gets.

don't know much about this polymorphs thing, but what I've seen is that dehydrating faster leads to the psilocybin assuming the most stable polymorph state, without water. meanwhile dehydrating slowly, generally without heat, makes micro particles of water to be integrated in psilocybin, creating a less stable polymorph.

also, you are right about the enzymes. enzymatic reaction is measured in seconds, proved by the blueing after cutting the shroom, that happens in like 10 seconds.

heat is measured in minutes to hours, proved by Gotvaldova 2020 experiments in psilocybin stability in heat.

this means that mathematically enzymes are AT LEAST 6x worse than heat.

why? just don't want to debate Dave Bennet because he is dishonest and actively distorts everything.

I'm also waiting for Rev to answer the comments of the change in the criteria of the test i did for him
