Of everything that I've packaged what held up the best for over 4 years was Mason jars. I have some 4 year old enigma that still hits hard but also feels like it's missing something you can't explain. There's lots of alkaloids in mushrooms that degrade at different levels. This seems to make sense to me for long term undisturbed bulk storage. Little to no surface area when packed solid in a vacuum sealed jar to the brim.

I liberated the sonicator from work. Got the cheap 300ml capacity centrifuge for extractions.

Was just looking at those for cleaning wild spores and dealing with clumped spores

I've heard people mention using a centrifuge to clean spores. I just don't quite understand how one would go about this. Centrifuging a spore solution would cause the spores clump into a pellet. All competitor spores would end up in the same pellet...

"Lighter/Smaller Particles: Stay suspended in the "supernatant" (the liquid above the pellet) for longer and are carefully poured off to be processed separately."

I'm looking for cheap methods that will suffice for my meathead approach to this hobby

I have too many ‘legacy’ plates. They are drying up, the plins shrivel. These 100 tubes will take up less space when I want to save a piece for future generations. I used a 100 ml syringe and tubing to fill them. Tops are 1/4 turn back from finger tight. The caps have gaskets. PC x 15’. Not in the rack because there’s no recycle code. I tightened them after they cooled.
I number them 1-100. I have a spread sheet to record contents.

My first ever pressure cooker! Used it yesterday for my first set of PF Tek.
My next attempt will be with Rhy grain.

I got a new 23-quart Presto pressure cooker for Christmas. I recently started using grain spawn bags, so the 16-quart Presto was no longer cutting it. It cost $245 USD which was a good deal compared to the $400 USD or more that I would pay buying it from a store around here. The guy just wanted to get rid of it, it came factory sealed.

Im thinking of buying a pair of 4" Duct-to-Wall Dryer Exhaust Hose connector parts and retrofitting them into my SAB. Has anyone ever attempted this before?

You might want to look into marine boats round inspection hatches, comes in various sizes with threads so you can screw them in and out.

:whathesaid:

Works like a charm!

In retrospect I would recommend cutting the holes to install them.
I used a propane torch to soften the edges of the pre existing holes (melted in with a coffee can) and pushed them through.
Pretty sure it clouded the plastic a little, as well as warped the wall, which neither helps with visibility.

Depending on how you define tool, this is pretty sweet and easy.  It’s maybe more of a hack but it’s a venting muffler

Just how it looks.. that’s a 4oz jar over the steam spout.  The paper towel lifts the jar just enough to let steam escape and also soak up any water that might form in the jar.  It’s hot af (obv), so use an oven mitt to remove it when you put the rocker on.  Great for apt’s or if you dont want to piss off your significant other.  My stove fan is louder than my pc now which is awesome

Spotted an insulation saw in B&Q an thought it might make a good mushroom feller. Works brilliantly when tackling a canopy. Its a saw with no teeth just sharpish wiggly blade.
