Yeah... those stars are creamy looking, likely the culture trying to outgrow the infection: searching for clean food... you can still make tea with any fruit that grow and  look ok to eat (decide whether or not to use like you would if they were inactive produce)... some guys say as long as it's cracker dry dehydrated, there's no issue... I've never tested the theory personally lol

It's rhizomorphic... and it is, but it's clumped and coated in bacterial snot... grain prep was likely far too wet

I see, makes sense tbh, after simmering the wbs I only emptied it out on a towel and gave it a quick rub before putting it into the jar.

Just put another batch of wbs in to soak, got a PC now and some injection ports for the jars so should be a better result.

Still haven’t got any pins on that jar, been fanning it everyday and it’s only got a bag over the top very very loose, do you think it’s going to be a dud?

Got another batch going, done it better this time, made sure my WBS was really dry on the outside before putting them in the jars, PC for 90mins, used the injection ports, flame sterilised the needle between each port.

They are staying in my kitchen too were it is a lot warmer.

Well it’s been a while since posting, thought I would share my results so far.

The 1 jar primarily mentioned above has fruits (yay) so I topped another 2 jars with coir and doing the same to hopefully start pinning.

I mixed a 4th jar with coir in a lunchbox and topped with coir, the mycelium is poking through the coir and forming those tiny white dots so I don’t think it will be long before I see pins there too.

The other 2 jars weren’t strong enough to make the cut.

My other 6 jars that I done for my second batch had a shake day before yesterday and seem to be recovering nicely. They are in the correct shoulderless jars so will be birthed and put into a container when ready, rather than in vitro.

Well that is my 1st flush from the 1 jar done, just waited until the veils broke and picked em.

Got them in my homemade drying chamber consisting of a lunchbox and 2 computer fans.





I have filled the jar with a weak bleach/ water mix to kill off anything in there (it did look pretty fine in there though to be honest, but just to be on the safe side, I am then going to give it a good rinse and drain and Hopefully get another flush

Don't use bleach... they'll flush or they won't; they're either healthy or not...  it's not helpful, fully colonized and consolidated, your healthy cakes will fend off contamination until it's spent

PC is recommended but not necessary , you can just boil them for like 3-4 hours and it'll be fine.
