The stem bottoms of tamps from photos and my own photos, always remind me
of those amazing sour straw candies. Except different flavor 😹

Plus for personal use I dub thee "Tampanensis" to "Coffee cap" or
Mexicana to "Peanut butter caps" :ooo:

They look twisty and tasty. Especially the upper ones.

This are stones building in an all in one jar of Ps. mexicana Veracruz Coyopolan, I intended to fruit.

It was made with shredded hemph. Now I am using it to pick out the stones with sterilized tweezers to bring them to agar. A good stoning culture will be on the way soon.

Interesting how different Ps. mexicana can look. Mr. Jalisco looks noble with his dark hat. Nice flush

Here is a little haul, where I compare my Pan. cyan with a Ps. mexicana  var. Coyopolan. Tadaa 🎉

Mexicana VC f2 clone that I’ve been running forever, on straight coir.

That same clone on CV+

F3 MS from that clone ^ on coir

So I thought that the small fruits were an issue of excess nutrients. Which seems to check out with the clone, but there’s some diversity here in the MS grow. The stand of large fruits with ideal caps shot up first, with the rest showing up some days later. Next round I’ll run spores from the big clone, and different sections of the MS tub.

Secotioid Panaeolus cinctulus "Polaris Panaeolopsis" MO#574189 9/5
"I wish we never found those damn stones, they caused us enough trouble already" -Jenna's Husband, Protect Orchard Farm Quest, Fable.
I also found some cinctulus here in vegas, and I been thinking about naming the strain, "Cincity". MO#584199

Cased two fully colonized shoeboxes of ATL7 this morning that have been going a little over a month. One of them had a pin growing on the sidewall of the tote (3) right near two large boulders breaking the surface (1&2).

I stumbled my way into some amount of success here. ATL7 pinning before top layer is fully colonized. I was planning to case, but now I'm here. Could someone help a brother out with my next move? I assume the early pinning is likely a contamination response? Ive got a water tub with an airstone in it ready to go - I could put the box in there, if flipping the lid isn't adequate.

Did you put into fruiting enviromental conditions when you spawned to substrate/bulk? ATL#7 sometimes gives off pre-truffles/pre-sclerotia forming before fully colonizing grain.
With yours it COULD be a bacterial contamination but ATL fruits differently sometimes. For example, you might
see 2-3 pins at first on the casing layer but days later and THEN more
pins come. They sorta are always fruiting or pinning, rather than consecutively like cubensis.

Were you working with a fruiting isolate or mostly a truffle isolate?
Or multigenetic? If going for fruits, then yes I recommend a casing layer but you don't need one per say.

That’s pretty normal in my experience, I’ve had a lot of tubs that had spotty surface colonization and pinned in like 8-9 days.

My personal best is 7-8 days for pins with ATL7 🤩
I am having trouble beating that record  sooo much freakin' fun.

Pic tax, ATL#7 jar:

It was an ms plate that formed stones on grain. My other ms culture didnt form stones in the grain, so figured that would be the one more likely to pin.

Im gonna skip the casing and just let it ride. Thanks for the feedback, gents.
