Comparison (left to right): P. tampanensis - P. galindoi - P. mexicana/Chicon Nindo - P. mexicana/Jalisco

And the other way around...

Lifted from Stonesun's '15 grow.

I'll have some Mexicana A fruit photos in a few days to compare, as a treat. Mostly to appease my curiosity on the matter. I'd like to see if they get those "spokes" on the cap that distinguish the mexicana. I forget what they're called. 😬😅

I don't discount Alan's opinion at all, he's earned his status. I just trust Workman (SW) and, since he has access to all of the collections, I feel like he would change it if it was mistaken. They had no issue in that regard when ATL7 was reclassified (Is that the correct word?) as tampanensis. I do know the original came from Colima, Mexico but perhaps Tamps could also thrive there?? -shrug-

Mex A stones do get large but I've seen Chicon Nindo get large as well. Mexicana sclerotia tends to get darker faster than atl/tamps. Most of my ATL stones were still creamy after many months.

I'd have to rely on folks like you Mojave that have many different cultures "in stock" for side by side comparisons.  Haha.

I do know that Mex A trip is different than ATL but that's too subjective, won't hold up in science court. Haha

Mojave - that Vera Cruz resembles all my Jalisco attempts. I'd get 🔥 lightning bolts ⚡ but never any rocks.

I just inoculated a jar today from a different print, perhaps that has the genetics I desire. ☝🏻

I literally only need one pebble to work with, to put me on track. 🥴🤣

I could never find any Chicon nindo prints, they seemed to have dried up by the time I got back into the groove.

But yes, main goal is selfish, to bioassay the stones and compare to Mex A. ☺️

Yeah Mex A is a tamp variety afaik.

Another confusing aspect is they’re all section Mexicanae.

Going orange brown on agar is definitely normal for tamps, I can’t remember if mexicana does it also but I wouldn’t be surprised.

You're right a k.a, they are all closely related & it's not a big deal but for whatever reason, I'm itching to be certain; under my skin. 🤣 I apologize for being annoying about it. 😓

Older Mexi A photos definitely have the mexicana look but recently they have a tamp vibe. Possibly environmental aspects.

There is another avenue to explore that may give us a hint towards this little puzzle.

I thought maybe the alkaloid content would lead us closer but maybe not. We need another known mexicana on the list to truly compare. 🤔🤷🏻

I guess I should pony up the coin and get it sequenced. 🤣

Mexicana Strain-A

Baeocystin = 0.899 mg/g
Norbaeocsytin = 0.356 mg/g
Norpsilocin = 0.299 mg/g
Psilocin = 1.960 mg/g
Psilocybin = 9.955 mg/g
Total Alkaloids = 13.469 mg/g

Tampanensis

Aeruginascin: 0.6 mg/g
Baeocystin: 0.4 mg/g
Psilocybin: 10.8 mg/g
Psilocin: 0.6 mg/g
TOTAL ALKALOIDS: 12.4 mg/g

Atl#7

Aeruginascin: 1.1 mg/g
Norbaeocystin: 0.6 mg/g
Baeocystin: 1.5 mg/g
Psilocybin: 9.0 mg/g
Psilocin: 3.0 mg/g
Norpsilocin: 0.4 mg/g
TOTAL ALKALOIDS: 15.6 mg/g

We can thank Bungmurphy for the HPLC data. 🫶🏻

I kinda stopped doing shrooms for what is 5-6 months now? Bet its the most ive stopped since finding them 6 years ago. I grew some tampanesis fruits that ive never tried. Dont feel a particular need to shroom again. People I gave them to mentioned clear headedness and emotional connection.
I always love to try new species even if its once and that would be my curiosity. Def do not need mindfuck shrooms like penis envies for example.
Do you think these would make for a nice farewell to the shroom world or I should just skip?
Reason why I stop is I wanna fight (and been fighting) my shitty patterns and lazyness on a daily basis while maintaining a sort of linearity that only ultimate soberness can offer ( didnt even drink cofee in this time). My heart kinda says no more shrooms but I got a lil curiosity going as well

Cubensis certainly can be a mindfuck & I no longer touch them so I understand. 🤣 They do have an 'alien archetype' that is interesting though, that I sometimes miss.

Grateful for my time spent/lessons but as I get older, I'm into other aspects.

Honestly, I rarely partake in fruitbodies (of any species) anymore. No beef with them & they're fun to grow & gorgeous. 🐦 Watcher, not an eater. Haha

Mex A Sclerotia is my go-to, perfect trip for me. Shorter lasting (4 hours), spiritual (dare I say, religious-awe vibe) and euphoric, no fear, no hangover or headache & I can go to sleep immediately after. Can't praise it enough.

That being said, I think tampanensis fruit will be a wonderful "fare thee well" experience for you. I've heard nothing but great things. Perhaps 99.99 will chime in with more details.

I hope you heal and gain new perspective, whether it be to follow sobriety or to partake occasionally...we love you regardless - whatever helps you be the best, wholesome, YOU ❤️

Oh very true, cubensis DO have a dark vibe for me nowadays also, and it
tends to be different each time for me too and hold a special place still
near and dear to many of us. They were usually the most visual open
or closed eyed visuals for me. 😎 Something unique, near and dear.

The experience is more "cleaner" and less groggy or exhausting and so on, everybody's
body and tolerance is different of course, so many factors.
Falling asleep quickly can be done yes, also its different. Warmer clothes
and somewhere to lay down if desired or be more alert if wish can be achieved also. The shorter duration is nice for yes a quick relaxing experience and
back to everything else. So much of an experience in it self too and being
around the species! 🥳

Of course! A person with your skills & accomplishments is literally always swimming in tamp fruit, so I assumed you'd have some experience in the matter. 🤗🤣

& There's a reason you choose to cultivate tamps over the others; we generally (as older heads) surround ourselves with what we love. If it's in the library, it's earned its place. 😎

You, 🐷, 🐇, -and many others- all say ps. Cyanescens (wavy caps) are the bees knees.🙌🏻

Subtrops has many endorsements as well for being top-tier experience.

Amazing outdoor specimens! Everyone please keep the photos coming :popcorn:

Ps. "Cyampanensis" :lol: not sure what these indoor tamps are doing in
this photo I found online.

With more washed sand it "feels" different
harvesting them from just CV casing or straight vermiculite. A bit more messy.
But it still feels nice! 😹 Washed sand, coir, vermiculite, and gypsym mix.

So, this was my first try at fruiting ATL7 (or any sclerotia strain for that matter). I harvested the stones (145.42 g wet from one jar, the other I have to finish completely picking off every the bit to get an accurate measurement) then spawned to a 32 quart tub but went by Bods x5 method for the bucket tek (x5 the coir weight to get water weight), ended up adding more water and tested field capacity, I had 1-2 drops off of water drain of my hand when I squeezed but I had to squeeze hard and def prob should’ve added more water. I started with 409 g of coir (just how I sawed it off the brick, I was trying to saw more like 325 g for the 32 quart and then multiplied by 5 and got 2045 g, so I added 2100 mL of boiling water to the coir, then opened the lid and saw it was dry so I added 250 mL more to get 2350 mL and didn’t want it to get too soupy but that was a mistake, I def should’ve AT LEAST 2500 L, more like 2800 mL. Well, that 450 mL made a HUGE difference and I’ve misting ever since to obtain proper surface conditions….

Doesn’t look as pretty as the other grows posted but, I rly did this out of novelty and wanted some for myself to trip on … and there was no contam, so I guess in that sense it’s all good but still could be better next time.

Also, I couldn’t get to mist it for 2 days before this pic for personal reasons (but every day or sometimes in the morning and at night on the weekends since spawning to bulk).

My question is, what should I do from here? Mist more or harvest and bottom water due to it being so dry?

Here are the truffles:

I was just about to suggest bottom water, tamps don't mind a tiny bit of
standing water/water logged just make sure the FAE is good and temperature
for it to evaporate/drank over the span of a few hours.

They might even continue opening up their caps/growing. Increase the humidity too, it looks
extremely dry, which they can take for a bit (somewhat drought tolerant)
Anyone else feel free to add any info!

EDIT: Awesome sclerotia though, they look neat and clean! 🥳

Thank you so much! So, I can bottom water even before harvest/as they are growing??

Edit: I should also add that it is in a unmodified tub with the lid flipped so it should def be getting FAE

Yep they’ll pull water up through the bottom of the sub.

I would make sure to drain it after a day or two if there’s still sitting water, sometimes these weird chunks of jello looking bacteria will start to grow around the bottom of the tub if it sits for a long time.
