Alma- No need to be intimidated. Very closely related to tampanensis & essentially the same growth parameters.

There was even a debate going around that MexA was incorrectly classified and indeed a tampanensis.I would like to think that's just morphology from lack of correct parameters. The older photos certainly look more mexicana than they do now. 🤔 I feel SW would correct that though, if that were actually the case. 🤷🏻

The only real difference I find between, in this case, mexA & ATL7 is success from multi spore. If you look at the history from Workman, he says that ATL7 had a lot more work/tests done so that it would consistently give results from spore. MexA really benefits from having agar skills. I think I yielded like 8 fresh grams of truffles from my first Ms 🫙. 🥴 I "cheated" & cloned a few and it's been smooth sailing ever since. The same results could be had by isolating on agar, as well.

Not really a joke, but not *that* serious either. Haha. Depends on the strain.

Jalisco is gorgeous but very thin, becomes a singed matchstick really quick if the rh drops for too long.🤣 MexA & Chicon nindo seem to have a little more meat on them than Jalisco, vera Cruz, etc.

You have to remember, I only fruit for novelty, so someone with more experience feel free to chime in. 🫶🏻

I love that husky btw, 😍 I also do that in my sclerotia related photos. 😆Goldy the golden gopher, stone guardian. 🙌🏻

Ohhh good to know thank you! Mexicana was the main goal, until I settled for Tamps and fell in love with them, honest.

I can see why, maybe not with a microscope but visably ATL#7 sometimes looks
similar to Mexicana, I can see how and why they're classified in the same fam.
Similar to his work with ATL7, I remember the thread of Workman testing Mexicana the same I think, with an A and B isolate and which ones produced bigger/truffles and which one is a fruiting variation-isolate.

Nah not "cheating" IMO, well... an easy route maybe lol that I want to try soon, truffles mixed with substrate and letting that fruit.

Ohhh good to know, nice, good to have agar skills also! OHHH very true, very nice, different varities, forgot about that. Copelandia Cyanescens Texas, was the same
way tiny thinnest fruiting Cyans you'd ever see maybe XD
but super potent :aweyeah:

Same here with the fruits, love seeing them mostly than truffles,
truffles are cool too, but I love seeing their natural non sclerotia form too!

LOL yes his name's Husk, thank you, I appreciate that!! The husky was a gift from a close family member, glad you understand hahaha mostly because its the stuffed animal posting not me XD and plus it looks cool.
I'd like to see Gophy the stone guardian some day, cool to hear you got the same thing  anyone is welcome to do that too, makes the picture look cooler!!! Getting some artsy fartsy stuff mixed in with the photos

So, I decided I want to use 2 jars of colonized AtL7 (6 months old), 8 quarts coir, 2.2 L water, in a Unbodified tub..  does this sound like a decent ratio? I do have another jar if I need to use it. Planning on doing this tomorrow so please let me know AsAp!

FYI: I am having uploading pics to Shroomery (says the file is too big, even with small screenshots) so any pics I post are linked to another site

Can you give an end to end on your process of logic leading to this decision?

Sorry, my intention is to fruit the stones

Hey guys, Ive got a number of ATL7 MS cultures on grain and I'm looking to flesh out a plan(my understanding) for what's going on here. Would yall mind sharing your favorite tamp write ups?

Thanks in advance, and I'm looking forward to adding this thread to my shroomery hangouts!🤙

Whatever 99.99 does, do that, he kills it!

For me, let the jars get stoney for a few months then spawn to sub. Keep some of the bigger stones for gummies, put the rest in the sub. Lots of FAE, lots of moisture.

Aww you guys are so nice 😊 … I don’t like stones so I just break up my  wheat with stones and all and mix directly to coir
If you like stones, take the stones out it doesn’t matter really either way

Use 1 part to 3 coir as your substrate
I mix this up by hand, pour in aluminum trays just because they are easy to poke holes in the bottom so your coir won’t become soggy wet
Then put a very thin casing layer of dry Pete Moss on top
I put mine in the Martha with the humidifier coming on every other 15 minutes they love to be very hot like 80° and very wet

Idk if I can do "very hot" - they'll be sharing a room with everything else I've got going. Do you suppose they'll fruit at least something if I just dub tub shoe boxes or cram them into a larger tote and mist? As of now, it's more of a novelty thing since I'm kinda dippin my toes into a bunch of exotics at once. Figured a lil sample platter and see what I enjoy growing the most. 🤷‍♂️

When I say very hot, I mean 80° is perfect to grow them as they are a tropical species that enjoys a lot of humidity

I’ve had them get 90° for several days before and it never caused any problem as long as they can stay humid

I have some tamps on coir and noticed they made truffies but mushrooms didnt want to pop to this point. Do they make it that way first trufies then mushrooms?

Mine always grow mushrooms first , truffles are designed when the conditions are not right to grow mushrooms that they produce the truffles to withstand the harsh environments, so it may be something to do with your current set up

Pff i really hope to read opposite.
They are in shoeboxes. With other cubes in room that pinning normally at all. Its little on the hot side of the temps coz its summer other that this i dont know what other to say.
How long normally they start to pin after spawn to coir?

Mine take one week to pin and one week before they are ready to harvest… so a total of two weeks before I get my first flush

Looks like i doing things wrong have some kind of hidden contamination or who know. I have some that are more than 30 days in coir and dont want to pin. Good thing is they not going to green. I have more jars so maybe will have success one day....

Good conditions are definitely crucial for fruiting, I usually know I did good when I break the sub up and there’s either no stones at all or a few marble sized ones.

But I’ve also had a culture that just will not fruit no matter what over the 4 times I’ve run it now. I did clone a fruit and a stone so I may have mixed up the plates though.

Most of the time after I’m through harvesting, I do break up this substrate that’s left and there are hardly ever any stones in it so I don’t even bother looking anymore

Did I see mention that cultures tend to favor fruit bodies or stones?
