Im far from perfect. I had a grain spawn failure rate last year of like 70+%

You're mostly right, most of my agar plates gets wrapped unused, and then unwrapped before transfer or spore inoculation. The only time I don't is if by chance I have unwrapped plates sitting in my SAB at the same time I'm doing plate work

I don't think it's time consuming, but I run a pretty small operation And I'm sure the zipbag technique works just fine when you've done it a couple of times and it probably saves some time, just not sure I would recommend a noob like me to try it out from the get go

Also, I've found a way to do things and it seems to be working well, that have to some degree, stalled my development and curiosity, because I am concerned that I'll change things that don't need to be change and mess up, but I'm sure that's my loss.

And you know me man, I love the work you do, even with your 70% grain spawn failure
